38. Toxic Positivity: When Does Positivity Hurt?

What is "toxic positivity"? Toxic positivity denies and minimizes any negative experiences and insists on a positive spin at all costs. It does not make room for the full range of human emotions/experience and can make us feel isolated and disconnected from our emotions."Practicing positivity" is a preferable tool when working with our brain's inherent negativity bias. When we practice positivity, we strengthen mindfulness, support our emotional regulation skills, and encourage real connection. We can recognize the reality of a situation and still work on our own cognitive flexibility and use strategies to shift our mindset without denying our experience or masking. For my FREE training "Sensory Strategies for ADHD: Learn How to Change Your Energy & Focus!" register here: https://www.theadhdclaritycoach.com/webinar-registration-1Interested in Embrace Your Brain, my small group coaching program? 34. How to Prioritize Your Things to Do List

Prioritization is an executive functioning skill that we use when we're trying to plan our time. Many people with ADHD find prioritizing challenging. We have large lists of things that need to be done but knowing which of those are the most pressing/important may not be intuitive. We are overwhelmed looking at those massive things to do lists because everything feels urgent! Today we're going to look at a tool to help us manage the overwhelm: the Eisenhower Matrix. This system helps us categorize which tasks need to be done immediately, scheduled for another time, simplified, or limited. If you would like to reference a picture of the Eisenhower Matrix, you can do in the transcript from today's episode here:https://www.theadhdclaritycoach.com/post/how-to-prioritize-your-things-to-do-listFor my FREE training "Sensory Strategies for ADHD: Learn How to Change Your Energy & Focus!" register here: https://www.theadhdclaritycoach.com/webinar-registration-1Interested in Embrace Your Brain, my small group coaching program? 30. The Best Way to Manage a Setback

What if you could stop dreading setbacks and accept them as a normal part of growing? When we finally have momentum and we're seeing progress, it can be disheartening when something derails us from our goals. If you've had enough experiences of "dropping the ball", you may even interpret some of these setbacks as evidence that you can't make real changes in your life, but that’s not true.Today I'm going to offer you an analogy that I like to use when I'm navigating setbacks in my life. It's a gentler way to view these inevitable "bumps" and can encourage you during the setbacks that come with making the changes that matter to you.For my FREE training "Sensory Strategies for ADHD: Learn How to Change Your Energy & Focus!" register here: https://www.theadhdclaritycoach.com/webinar-registration-1Interested in Embrace Your Brain, my small group coaching program?
