Making Music from her Heart, singer and songwriter, Shab
In this episode, I had the honor and pleasure of meeting breakthrough musical artist, Shab. A product of three continents, Shab is an American singer and songwriter who was born in Tehran and the youngest of 13 children. She shares her journey of fleeing from her country at 8 years old for Germany and then coming to America at 14. Fluent in Farsi and English, she released her first album singing in her native Farsi language in 2016 & 2017. In 2018, she decided to crossover as an English language entertainer. What I found most beautiful about talking to Shab was her heart, and it makes complete sense that she wrote her hit single, 'Music To My Heart. She cares about the message in her music and the importance of empowering her fans. Practicing yoga, having gratitude, never allowing fear to stop her and allowing the universe to guide her is how she lives her life. This is a must listen episode.

She Was Impossible Not To Notice
This episode is about reflecting on the lessons I've learned from my fearless 86 year old Mom. She always knew how to make an entrance, yet as my younger self, it made me cringe. Now as a 61 year old woman, I finally freaking get it! Don't ever ask for permission because you only have this one damn life to be yourself, so have fun a screw the haters. I was torn about doing this episode because my Mom passed away less than 48 hours ago. I'm mentally and physically exhausted because it has been a very long road for my Mom. In 2016, she suffered a devastating stoke leaving her paralyzed on her right side and 80% speech impaired. I always knew she was a fighter and a fearless son of a gun, but after her stroke, she took it to another level. At 80 years old and in a wheelchair, she re-invented herself and embraced her new life. The day after Thanksgiving, we thought we were going to lose her. Two days later, she was in the care of hospice. She fought so damn hard against the pain until she didn't anymore and decided it was time to let go. For the first time in her life, she let go, but it was when she was ready. She fought hard for 32 days.

The People's Artist, Guy Stanley Philoche
My guest today is Guy Stanley Philoche, who for the past 20 years, has been attracting international attention with his work and impressive roster of solo shows. In his debut work, the acclaimed Untitled Series, Guy established himself as a force to watch on the art scene. Also known as The People's Artist for his help to struggling artists during the Covid-19 global quarantine. Instead of focusing on art reflecting the suffering, Philoche wanted to take people out of their fear and pain and make them smile. With businesses shut down and unable to access the art store, Philoche had to come up with new colors from the paints he had left or had to find new media to use. And out of all of that, came Remembering Your Innocence series.
