Mark Fisher is one of my favorite humans, a close friend, and the co-owner and Ninja Master of Mark Fisher Fitness; is one of the most successful gyms in the history of the fitness industry. EP099: A Language and Communication to Help Your Coaching and Client Transformations (and Yourself)

After over a decade of working with clients from all walks—as well as consoling fit pro’s—has taught me that the “You can do it!” rah rah approach doesn’t work, most of the time. This fact was also affirmed in my years of studying coaching, change psychology, behavior change, environmental sciences, pedagogy and communication. So what does work? It's simple. Having a better approach to coaching. Telling clients what to do and then saying, "they're not committed" when they don't do it doesn't solve your problem, it creates one. In this episode I share the insights that do solve it. I dive into everything from the language and communication style I use with my clients to get them the greatest results, to the five things you MUST do if you’re going to be the best coach, communicator and leader. If you're a coach in any capacity this is a must listen. Let's go. IN THIS EPISODE: 1. Your client’s aren’t making “bad choices” – I explain what's really happening and how to fix it 2. The reason all your knowledge in fitness and nutrition won’t help if you don’t understand and eliminate this ONE thing from your clients perception 3. How to help your clients eliminate the roadblock that are holding them back 4. The exact language to use to keep your clients from putting up walls that prevent you from coaching them 5. What you have to do first before becoming the most effective coach in any area. This one will surprise you 6. Why expectations and agreements are a MUST in any gym program 7. Sentence stemming and how using it can help you unlock your clients “next step” for them 8. An exercise that will allow you to help your clients overcome their fears 9. The coaching super power most lack and how I stumbled upon a little known way to develop it 10. The judgment check and why you’re most likely judging your clients out of results 11. EP097: The Sleep Coach’s Strategies to Supercharge Your Results and Transform Your Body and Life

Years ago I crashed and burned. The cause of my burnout was a decade of working like crazy and not sleeping enough... to the tune of 3-4 hours a night. This led me to go to the doctor and get tests done. The results of those tests led me to overhaul my health and prioritize sleep. I’ve done a podcast on sleep before, but when I heard Nick Lambe's talk at an event we were both speaking at, I knew I needed to bring him on the show. Nick spends the most of his time coaching clients on how to fix their sleep patterns. Sleep—more specifically, getting enough sleep—is an important topic that, for many of you, may be the single most important thing you can do to help your health, wellness, performance, and happiness in 2020. In this episode Nick and I talk about the real world ways you can help improve sleep, the real dangers of not sleeping enough, as well as the practical tactics and strategies that Nick uses to get results for his clients. We also talk about how coaches can (and should) educate themselves on the importance of sleep. In particular, how to help improve the sleep patterns of their clients. This episode will give you strategies that will not only benefit your life, but also help you get better results, and become more valuable to your clients. Let's go. IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN: 1. How Nick, a strength and conditioning coach, became a sleep coach. 2. How improving your sleep will improve every area of your life and make you a better and nicer person. 3. How to know if you're putting enough emphasis on sleep. 4. Why most chronic sleep issues are behavioural, but can start with a life event such as an injury, new career or stress. We discuss how to overcome the issue so that it doesn't become a pattern. 5. How thoughts can affect your sleep and create a vicious cycle of insomnia. 6. Why people are affected by sleep and the practical lessons you can apply to your life to change bad sleep patterns into good ones. We give some powerful real world examples which you will be able to apply to your life. 7. Why sleep MUST be coached to clients and not just given to them as a “sleep hygiene” list. 8. Why what you associate your bedroom with is critical for quality sleep. Learn the “2S” acronym that is the only thing you should be using it for. 9. Blue screens aren’t as bad as we think. Nick shares what you should really focus on. 10. The 3 big reasons you should get rid of your sleeping pills now! 11. Powerful and practical insights that can improve your sleep fast. And much more.
