CNN reports the flames from the Palisades Fire are burning through about five football fields every minute. At nearly 3,000 acres, as of Tuesday night, emergency officials warn that a windstorm means the worst is yet to come. As of this writing, Palisades Charter High School has burned along with multiple homes in the Pacific Palisades area. This fire is threatening the Getty Villa Museum. UCLA students received a warning email but have not been asked to leave. We will follow developments of both the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire in the Eaton Canyon area on The Mark Thompson Show. Trump held a press conference at Mar-a-Lago yesterday that brought out some of his wild ideas. In addition to wanting to rebrand the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, the president -elect would not rule out military force in his desire to acquire Greenland and the Panama Canal. He appeared to blame Hezbollah for the violence on January 6th. We will discuss it all with presidential historian and political analyst John Rothmann.

President Elect Donald Trump is attempting to prevent the release of the final report by the special counsel investigating his actions, particularly related to the January 6 Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump’s legal team has filed a motion in court, arguing that the special counsel's findings contain inaccuracies and should not be made public. The move is part of his broader strategy to challenge the legal proceedings and avoid the potential political and reputational fallout from the report's findings.

What a strange and sad start to 2025 in America. An Army veteran from Texas slammed into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing at least 15 and injuring many more before he was killed. The FBI is investigating the case as an act of terrorism and says the man reportedly had recently joined the ISIS terrorist group. Outside of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, someone blew up a Tesla Cybertruck. Authorities believe fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel were used in the blast - which left one person inside the Cybertruck dead. In Honolulu, Hawaii, a fireworks explosion killed three people and injured 20. This incident appears to be accidental in nature. In California, Governor Gavin Newsom is putting state law-enforcement on high alert because of the attacks in Louisiana and Las Vegas. In a show of power and influence, Elon Musk whispered his dismay over a bipartisan government funding deal into Donald Trump's ear and the pair worked to threaten and pressure Republicans to support a different last minute Trump/Musk approved deal. Even so, dozens of Republicans joined Democrats in voting down the revised bill - which included a two-year suspension of the debt limit. House Speaker Mike Johnson says Republicans will "come up with another solution" but the deadline to avoid a government shutdown is today.
