Dr Newman has worked as a doctor, public speaker and plant-based advocate since 2004 and is the Senior Partner at The Orchard Surgery. She studied at the University of Wales College of Medicine and has worked in many specialities as a doctor including elderly care, endocrinology, paediatrics, ob-stet-rics and gynaecology, psychiatry, general surgery, urology, vascular surgery, rehabilitation medicine and General Practice. She gained additional qualifications in gynaecology and family planning. She has a specialist interest in plant based nutrition and gives nutrition and lifestyle advice to her patients, who have gained tremendous results using the power of their plate. As a broadcaster and writer she has been featured on television, including ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky News Sunrise. She has contributed to articles for magazines including Glamour, Zest, Good Housekeeping and of course has featured on Plant Based News too. Her family lead a fully plant based lifestyle, following the extensive research she had done on the scientific literature on the health benefits associated with whole-food plant based nutrition. The President of Mercy For Animals Leah Garcés Interview | Episode 13

Animal activist Leah Garcés became the first female president of animal-rights group Mercy For Animals (MFA) on October 1. Garcés has worked in animal advocacy for 20 years, most recently as executive director of Compassion in World Farming USA, and was instrumental to exposing animal cruelty and unfair labor practices at Perdue Farms in 2013, which led to substantive changes in the company’s animal-welfare practices three years later.
