Joe’s rock bottom point was needing to ride a mobility scooter around Disneyland and not being able to go on the rides with his kids. He decided it was time to finally make a change and went carnivore 12 months ago. In this episode Dr. Chaffee and Simon chat with Asher (AKA @primalwellness on IG) about his journey from ‘skinny fat’ in his 20s and 30s to a ripped carnivore in his late 40s. *Dr. Chaffee joins about 17 minutes into the conversation. Asher has suffered from anxiety, panic disorders and depression. In his 30s he started having panic attacks daily, he couldn’t work and had to quit his job. Asher became a high functioning alcoholic in an attempt to escape his anxiety. Asher’s struggles lead him to look for a solution and stumbled across some information linking mental health with nutrition. Today, Asher has been a strict carnivore for 4 years and before that he was keto and before that paleo.  He is what you might call an ‘expert level carnivore’, eating high fat, and almost exclusively beef and lamb. At 49 years old he is extremely lean, fit and strong. Asher has run a mental health clinic for the past 7 years and helps his patients who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD and more make huge progress through metabolic therapy AKA proper human nutrition. After 9 years working as a coal miner Adam’s health began to deteriorate and he began suffering from anxiety, depression and gut distress. Adam turned his health around by removing processed foods and getting back to nature spending weeks and months living out in the Australian bush. Adam lives in remote far North Queensland for months at a time. He goes hunting barefoot and lives entirely off the land eating wild cows, pigs, turkeys, kangaroos and fish. Adam recently featured on the Discovery Channel TV series Naked and Afraid which challenged him to survive 21 days in the African wilderness with nothing, literally naked.
