John Cena: The One Ton Challenge - The Greatest Weightlifting Challenge of Your Life — Barbell Shrugged #389

Looking for a fun event for strong people? Look no farther. The One Ton Challenge is the most fun weightlifting competition you will ever complete. It tests your lifelong pursuit of strength and leaves out the unnecessary formalities...and cardio.   The One Ton Club — A club at Cena’s gym of people who can lift a total of one ton or 2,000 lb. in 48 hours doing 6 lifts: squat, clean, jerk, snatch, deadlift and bench. Anders Varners made it to the one ton club! Cena created the One Ton Club as a way to make training more fun by gamifying it. If you made the One Ton Club, you get a special shirt, and your name will be on the door or wall.   Set up the BBQ, get your friends, turn up the music, and use The One Ton Challenge as your motivation to pursue strength!   There’s no need to qualify. You don’t have to be in the top 1% to participate.   Strong people don’t run from a challenge, they attack it head on. The purpose is not achieving a certain number. The purpose is to get better. With a goal specific program designed to build strength and perfect technique, you will get better.   The One Ton Challenge Starter Kit is your step-by-step guide to testing your lifelong pursuit of strength.   To ensure you get results, we have developed The One Ton Training Program with the most successful strength coach in the country, Travis Mash. This program is broken down into six, eight week training blocks. Each training block builds full body strength in the major weightlifting (snatch, clean, jerk) and powerlifting lifts (squat, bench, deadlift) with a focus on a specific lift that you will have to master in order to reach your goal of One Ton or 1500 for women.   Coach Travis Mash is no stranger to strength. He is 46 years old and still front squats over 500 pounds.  He had more athletes compete in the Weightlifting World Championships than any other coach in America in 2018.  He has many freakishly strong athletes include Hunter Elam, Nathan Damron and Morgan McCullough.   The One Ton Challenge Training Program is a 4-6 day/week program that provides strength training, technique drills, and movement specific accessory work to build full body strength, while mastering each lift to smash through the 2,000 pound goal using just 6 lifts (again… snatch, clean, jerk, squat, bench, deadlift).   Are your strong enough to be in the One Ton Club?   Are you ready to take on the One Ton Challenge?   Get ready. -Anders and Doug ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Show notes at: http://www.shruggedcollective.com/bbs-prologue ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ► Subscribe to Barbell Shrugged's Channel Here ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe 📲 🎧 Listen to the audio version on the Apple Podcast App or Stitcher for Android Here- http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedApple http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedStitcher Shrugged Collective is a network of fitness, health and performance shows that help people achieve their physical and mental health goals.  Usually in the gym, but outside as well. Tony Gentilcore (@tonygentilcore) is one of the co-founders of Cressey Sports Performance, which really should have been called "Cressilcore Sports Performance" because that sounds like an awesome castle where a wizard lives (and plays sports). He's no longer coaching there, but his legacy remains. Tony's Techno Tuesdays will live on forever.   When he’s not picking things up and putting them down himself, he trains people at his studio, CORE, located in Boston, MA. The Terrifying Truth Of The “School Lunch” — Real Chalk #72

5 billion lunches are served annually through the National School Lunch Program.   In this podcast we touch on the quality of food that your kids are actually eating at school, the macros in the food, and the terrifying statistics that follow when digested.   Obesity rates have tripled since 1980. Something needs to be done. At the current rate, 40% of girls in elementary school right now will one day be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. About 3 out of every 4 students is either overweight or obese right now and they will retain that weight as they get older.   In addition, students who eat school lunch are more than 4 times likely to obtain significantly less information than their healthy lunch brining counterparts. They are less likely to want to do physical activity. And they downright just don’t have the same brain development as kids who are eating healthy.   I’m personally sickened by this. I’m hoping this podcast will help educate many and scare them just enough to do something at your next school meeting or force parents to help meal prep for their kids.   YOU are helping create your children’s future by the food you feed them everyday. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Show notes: http://www.shruggedcollective.com/rc-maher ------------------------------------------------------------------------------► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe 📲 🎧 Listen to the audio version on the Apple Podcast App or Stitcher for Android Here- http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedApple http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedStitcher Shrugged Collective is a network of fitness, health and performance shows that help people achieve their physical and mental health goals.  Usually in the gym, but outside as well. Logan Gelbrich: Going Right — The Bledsoe Show #130

Logan Gelbrich feels right at home coaching at DEUCE Gym. With a background in collegiate (University of San Diego) and professional (San Diego Padres) baseball, Logan is used to high performance, heavy workloads, and accountability. Luckily, Logan was blessed enough to work with world renowned strength and conditioning coaches, sports psychologists, and nutritionists during his career. It’s during this time that the seeds were sown for the belief system that guides his coaching today. Forever a “student of the game,” Logan is always looking to strengthen and question his understanding of human movement and nutrition.   In this episode,  Logan dives into coaching athletes at different stages of development.   Minute Breakdown:   0 - 18 Logan discusses coaches having a hard time communicating and doing that one thing well.  Going down the rabbit hole of your craft is never going to be the interest of your clients. Understanding what it is to be a teacher.  Why we have the classic case of geniuses that can’t connect to the people.   18 –29  Getting different outcomes are about becoming that person. Authentically becoming that person but also becoming that person. Not staying where you are because you think that is where you are most authentic.   Changing beliefs one at a time rather than copying what others are doing.   29 - 42  Show people you messed up and what’s behind that. Showing people what they didn’t see before.  Human behavior and why things go poorly for us. What’s at the root cause. Most people go to work doing 2 full time jobs. One job is a full time job and the other job is covering their weaknesses they have.  Keeping from being exposed. How to get over that and lie to ourselves about the weaknesses. Using our weaknesses as a guide to the future better me.   42 – 50: Chose to be humble and shine bright lights.  Having a group where everyone is aligned in their desires.  Shifting cultures. Letting guards down, facing fears. Having fun while doing it.  Hedging against having experiences we want. 50 + Setting tones as a coach.  Understanding power and how it works. How to walk into a room and set the tone for a good experience.  You are competing against people who are so willing and brought into processes that you can't change not showing up and giving it your all. --------------------------------------------------- Show notes: https://shruggedcollective.com/tbs-gelbrich ---------------------------------------------------   ► Travel thru Europe with us on the  Shrugged Voyage, more info here: https://www.theshruggedvoyage.com/ ► What is the Shrugged Collective?  Click below for more info: https://youtu.be/iUELlwmn57o ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe 📲 🎧 Listen to the audio version on the Apple Podcast App or Stitcher for Android Here- http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedApple http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedStitcher Shrugged Collective is a network of fitness, health and performance shows that help people achieve their physical and mental health goals.  Usually in the gym, but outside as well. Biohacking Your Way To A World Record Bench Press with Emily Hu and Halo Sport CTO Brett Wingeier — Barbell Shrugged #387

Halo Sport is the first-ever brain stimulator used to accelerate movement-based learning. In other words, it speeds up the development of skill, strength, and endurance, depending on the type of training that you pair with it.   Halo Sport works by applying non-invasive, mild electrical current to the motor cortex (part of the brain responsible for movement), allowing your brain to build stronger connections and learn movement faster. For example: You can wear Halo Sport for 20 minutes before your training session, which gives you one hour of what neuroscientists call “hyperlearning” or “hyperplasticity”. Training with it accelerates gains across skill, strength, and endurance.   In this episode of Barbell Shrugged we talk about the advantages of the Halo Sport 2, the research behind tDCS, the technique of bench pressing, how to fix motor learning problems, how to incorporate Halo Sport during competition, why consistency is the difference maker the difference between Halo Sport 1 and Halo Sport 2,  the Halo Sport app, and much more!   Enjoy!   - Anders and Doug   Episode Breakdown   0-10: Talking to world record holder in bench press, using Halo to improve climbing, the advantages of the Halo Sport 2, and the research behind tDCS 11-20: The technique of bench pressing, the sweet spot of benching, why you should strengthen your triceps for bench, and how to fix motor learning problems 21-30: How to use your feet when benching, the process of a powerlifting meet, how to incorporate Halo Sport during competition, and why consistency is the difference maker 31-40: Current training, warm-ups for powerlifting, the importance of a good coach, why the strongest lifters in the gym use the Halo Sport to enhance training, and the difference between Halo Sport 1 and Halo Sport 2 41-50: Brain mapping, the Halo Sport app, data collection, and training age 51-60: The Halo Sport 2 fit, special offer on Halo Sport 2, and where to find Emily and Halo ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Show notes at: http://www.shruggedcollective.com/bbs-halo ----------------------------------------------------------------------- @perfectketo: https://perfectketo.com “shrugged” for 20% off @organifi - www.organifi.com/shrugged to save 20% @halo- www.gethalosport.com/shrugged  $20 off an additional $100 for presale orders @whoop - www.whoop.com  “shrugged” for 20% off   ► Subscribe to Barbell Shrugged's Channel Here ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe 📲 🎧 Listen to the audio version on the Apple Podcast App or Stitcher for Android Here- http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedApple http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedStitcher Shrugged Collective is a network of fitness, health and performance shows that help people achieve their physical and mental health goals.  Usually in the gym, but outside as well. Hard Work Beats Talent: My Story of Couch Surfing to a 7 Figure Business — Real Chalk #71

We all need inspiring stories to keep us motivated and remind us of what is possible. Sometimes we settle with mediocre and forget what our original goals were. We forget what we were put on this earth to do. We get scared. We fail. We make excuses. We put ourselves in a place with limits. But what if... What if our soul has another plan the whole time? What if we don’t know what it is, but it keeps us awake at night? It reminds us that what we are doing is either right or wrong. It consumes our every movement, breathe, thought, and action. It is a gut feeling that never steers you in the wrong direction. It is... Everything you were meant to be and more. You just have to trust it.   This is my story. It always gets me emotional, so I’m sorry for the sad parts, but it’s enough to light you up for the week and it’s real shit that we can all accomplish.   Enjoy! I love you all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Show notes: http://www.shruggedcollective.com/rc-fischer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe 📲 🎧 Listen to the audio version on the Apple Podcast App or Stitcher for Android Here- http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedApple http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedStitcher Shrugged Collective is a network of fitness, health and performance shows that help people achieve their physical and mental health goals.  Usually in the gym, but outside as well. The Human Garage with Garry Lineham— The Bledsoe Show #129

Garry Lineham (@humangaragela), co-founder of Human Garage, is a lifelong bio-hacker who believes that the human body was designed to heal itself. He started Human Garage as a vehicle to give people the correct input to start that healing. Garry himself lived in chronic pain for over 20 years.   During that time, he became increasingly frustrated with the countless treatment modalities that only addressed his symptoms. He realized the root of the problem wasn’t being solved and set out to do just that.   Human Garage is based on the principle that optimal health is achieved through complete alignment— restoring the natural functions of the body to enjoy pain-free, full-range of motion. Garry is proud of the fact that medical doctors and therapists from around the world are now coming to Venice, California to learn the Human Garage way of repairing and re-balancing the human body.   In this episode, Gary gives why stretching doesn’t work and the issue isn't the issue. How the body is all connected as one. How the Human Garage began and what sets it apart from other places.   Minute Breakdown:   0 - 18 Muscles have signals. If you don’t get a signal to body part you are working on, then you need to fix that because you are over compensating other areas.  Traditionally people power through aches and pains and don’t resolve it. What does it mean to have your body compensate itself back into alignment?   18 –29  There’s one reason why all these injuries happen and it is stress.  People work out to get rid of stress and then end up injured. Fascia is woven everywhere throughout your body. It’s like an intricate network of webbing that connects each part of you to everything else.  How we walk with our hips not our feet. If your systems aren’t working together than it has an effect on performance. You want your muscles to work better, but really you need the whole body to be working together.     29 - 42  How meridian lines show hidden throughout your body,  connections you can’t see and would never consider. They are useful in showing us the connections between muscles, joints, nerves, and organs.   Drilling down to the real issue, lin internal organs, then you heal faster. Food staying in the system too long and doesn’t absorb protein which then turns to cards.  When your body is achy in muscle and joints, it’s because the body can’t recover.   42 – 50: Gary changed model so people don’t have to come in as much.   They are now training external preactionars so they can expand the Human Garage.  Human Garage having CBD essential oil steamed shower, hot or cold baths, offering the total conscious spa experience.  What’s organic structured wine? People from all over the world are calling for Human Garbage treatment because of what takes 3 hours to heal, will take minutes at Human Garage because of their techniques.  Postural alignment and client education are two key elements of the Human Garage program. --------------------------------------------------- Show notes: https://shruggedcollective.com/tbs-lineham --------------------------------------------------- ► Travel thru Europe with us on the  Shrugged Voyage, more info here: https://www.theshruggedvoyage.com/ ► What is the Shrugged Collective?  Click below for more info: https://youtu.be/iUELlwmn57o ► Subscribe to Shrugged Collective's Channel Here http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedSubscribe 📲 🎧 Listen to the audio version on the Apple Podcast App or Stitcher for Android Here- http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedApple http://bit.ly/BarbellShruggedStitcher Shrugged Collective is a network of fitness, health and performance shows that help people achieve their physical and mental health goals.  Usually in the gym, but outside as well.
