The Longest Mile in Iraq with 1032nd Combat Veterans Nathan Williams, Emmette Bird, Wes Brickey, Casey Brannon, and Lindsey Perdue
This is a special episode that we decided to do out of nowhere, in honor of the veterans who deal with traumatic issues on a daily basis. For the duration of their deployment, the soldiers of the 1032nd TC were essentially set up for failure in Iraq from lack of supplies, resources, or sound leadership beyond a company level. However, these soldiers preservered and are here to talk about a day that would define their lives. On January 14th 2004, host Billy Riddle, Emmette Bird, Nathan Williams, and Wes Brickey set out on a mission that would set a path for each of them. We were also joined by Casey Brannon and Lindsey Perdue, who were members of the 3rd Platoon Crew that were ambushed that day. Tomorrow is not promised, and the stories of these soldiers embody that. This episode is dedicated to those we've lost since. The WoodShop Chronicles Part 2: In Memory of Alan Arant & The Legend of Ryan Woods featuring Amos Denton, John Clements, Simon Winch, Heather Winch, and Ryan Woods

We recommend going back to Part 1 if you haven't. We dedicated this one to our friend Alan Arant, with a fitting song dedicated to him to end the show. The WoodShop Chronicles: Part 1 with Amos Denton, Simon Winch, and John Clements
First off, mind the language. Secondly, this episode went on for so long that we had to split it up. This first part we introduce Simon Winch, hear his story from the UK to Callaway, stories from the high seas, and why he decided to put down roots in the heart of Appalachia. We also got into some good, old, stories with Amos and John that set our paths in our youth. This was a blast, and look for part two later in the week.https://www.appalachianpodcast.orghttps://www.facebook.com/AppalachianPodcasthttps://www.facebook.com/harwellgricehttps://www.facebook.com/BlackwaterbuildingSupport the show
