350: TOP 5 STANDALONE SINGLES / STORMZY REVIEW

NO ENCORE returns amidst illness and a hellacious World Cup schedule for the final 'regular' episode of 2022 before we get in the game for our End Of Year highlights package. For now, please enjoy an album review, a stacked news section and a Top 5 that sure does stand alone until we inevitably do a sequel as boy does this one warrant it.ACT ONE: Some quick #SpotifyWrapped discussion and dates for the aforementioned End Of Year episodes.ACT TWO (10:40): Christine McVie RIP, Larry Mullen Jr. provokes cause for concern amongst the U2 community, a quite frankly bizarre UB40 update, Bob Dylan in the dock, and Nick Cave's tattoo advice – it's this week's news.ACT THREE (36:56): Stormzy returns with third studio album This Is What I Mean. He's certainly very clear in his intentions, but does his most contemplative record yet go the distance?ACT FOUR (56:04): As the World Cup drama heats up, the boys try and remain composed just long enough to deliver their Top 5 Standalone Singles. Before The ENCORE #15 | Ruth Medjber

It's the pod you've all been waiting for... That's right, it's Before The ENCORE and it's the final episode of 2022! I couldn't think of anyone better to share the stage with this month than my first visual-based guest in the music industry, Ruth Medjber. Ruth is a household name when it comes to music photography in Ireland and abroad, having toured with homegrown hero Hozier and Arcade Fire, covered Glastonbury Festival in 2022 for the BBC, as well as being published in internationally renowned music publications such as Kerrang!, NME & Rolling Stone. We speak about the linkage between audio and visual and the importance of that in a modern world, finding your tribe and how important that is for your creative stimulation, and her new radio show Spotlight on Dublin City FM; a showcase of Irish artists which also features some live performances, something that I feel has certainly disappeared on radio in more recent years. Thanks to all the BTE listeners for your incredible support this year, I'm so grateful for all of it and I hope to bring you an even better music industry deep-dive experience in 2023. -Sonic Architect Adam Hosted on Acast. Before The ENCORE #14 | Philip Magee

Welcome back listener! It's colder and darker this month for sure but I'm happy to say that this interview brought me a lot of warmth, and hopefully it does so for you as well. This month is a very special episode for me. I was fortunate enough to be able to sit down with the wonderful Philip Magee for this episode; a phenomenally prolific music producer and mix engineer but also a mentor and friend. Phil's discography speaks for itself, having produced & engineered for world-renowned international acts such as Kodaline & The Script, Miles Kane, Sisqo & Delta Goodrem, and having his foot firmly rooted at the beating heart of Irish music working with The Academic in the early stages of their career, as well as Gavin James, Westlife, The Coronas, True Tides, The Blizzards, and many, many, many more. When I first came up with the concept for this podcast, Phil was the first name I thought about and the reason being that I feel I truly wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today without him, his influence and his guidance. As well as hearing all about Phil's work ethic, his recording improvisation with dictaphones and VHS tapes, you'll also hear about my start and how I ended up moving away from a life as a band member towards becoming the producer and mix engineer I am today. Thanks as always and if you do love what we do here, kindly share it with a friend or consider signing up to our Patreon here for bonus content.Back in November - stay warm, everyone!-Sonic Architect Adam Hosted on Acast.
