How to Use Dating Apps, Getting Through a Breakup and When to Have Sex

Episode 161: “When is it okay to have sex with someone you really like?” “How do you stay broken up with someone you know isn’t good for you?” “How do you use dating apps without being superficial and going crazy?” When I polled my Instagram audience the other day to find out what they wanted to know the most about, these are the three questions I received repeatedly.  So, today’s podcast episode of the Mind Body Musings show is going to be all about these three things. DISCLAIMER: None of the insight or advice you are about to receive are set in stone. Coach Maddy Moon has been fooled into going on dates with many a**holes throughout her years via dating apps, she has reached out to exes she knew she shouldn’t be with, and she has had sex before when she really could have gone without it. But, hey, I OWN these experiences totally and I wouldn’t take any of them back for anything. I owe a lot to the nights I ended back up in the arms of an ex because it’s those gross gut feelings that led me to ending things permanently.  I owe a lot to giving myself to someone who wasn’t right because I realized how much of a treasure my body is and why I need to only share it with someone who really matters. I owe a lot to my insecure past. She taught me what strength really looks like. She taught me how to stick up for my values, worth and voice.  I’ve had some really dark days when it comes to relationships (this year in particular was a doozy) but nonetheless I’ve remained open and vulnerable. I’m so proud of my romance battle scars because they’ve healed into something spectacular. I know myself, I know what I want, and I know what not to do.  So, without further ado, are you ready to hear what I’ve learned about these three topics? Let's go! Show notes: Enjoy Four Sigmatic’s Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix and get a dose of its many health benefits! Enter the code ‘maddy’ in their website and get a 10% off your purchase. When using dating apps know yourself and be clear on what kind of person that you want to date. Go on ‘mini’ dates so that if it’s not working, you don’t feel locked in. When on a date, I let him pay if I feel we are a good fit and we are enjoying ourselves. If it’s not a good fit, I always pay half. Don’t overthink if a date goes really well. If you want to say hi the next day, do so. Know the type of person that you are and know the type of person that you are with. I am primarily a secure type of person, but secondarily anxious. I can get very attached to someone who is an ‘avoidant’, someone who does not respond and plays a little hard to get. Being an anxious person, I let go of people who are avoidant as they activate my attachment style MAJORLY. Listen to the podcast I did about the book Attached to learn more. Notice the pattern of communication after your date. Mentalities you can have when using dating apps: I’m doing this for dating. I’m doing this for entertainment / fun. I want to meet new people. Make new friends. If you want more insight about dating, Matthew Hussey has a book called ‘Get the Guy’ + a great YouTube channel. So why choose the middle path when on dating apps? To increase your pool of potential and possibilities. Know that an ‘attachment’ is created when you have sex with someone. Can you or your partner handle that? If you are an anxious person, an avoidant is already not good for you. Much so if you have sex with him/her as sex only multiplies your attachment. Consult with your heart and feel what’s best for you. Maybe talk to your partner first and see how you both feel about your relationship before you have sex. Giving yourself to someone only to watch the relationship quickly crumble is always painful, but learn what you can from the situation and stay in your softness and femininity. One of the reasons one stays in a relationship is comfort. But life is not just for comfort, my friends. To cope up with a break-up: TravelAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Busy and Burnt Out: How to Rest in the Hustle Bustle

Episode 158: It's summertime, so that means we're in the midst of high-energy! The kids are out of school, there are projects to be done, BBQs to be had, camping to be experienced and much more. Generally, around this time of year, I get really overwhelmed with the hustle bustle going on around me. It's exciting, of course, but at times it can also be emotionally draining. With coaching, friends, retreats, podcasting, reading, dating and being a dog mom, there are tons of things that need to be done before the end of any given day. I can't even imagine what it must be like for those of you who have kids! So in this podcast, I want to teach you some ways to slow down and take care of yourself, even when you feel like you can't. Trust me, you can. Let's make it happen. Show notes: Want to have a taste of the Hot Cacao Mushroom mix and the Viking mix that I just can’t have enough of? Put down your deposit HERE. (watch THIS video for more!) I just went to Minneapolis to give a high school graduation speech (you can watch it here if you want!) An example of one of my previous clients who had tons of masculine energy as a lawyer and how she found her own rest and recovery in the hustle bustle The importance of handing over work to take off the amount on your plate Why there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with you if you need periods of rest from your work (y'all, I usually take an entire SEASON off!) Why we as humans are not build for working massive amounts of hours a week + also doing everything else in our lives Another story of one of my friends who is also struggling to recover from burn out because she is over-working and under-charging How some religions might influence you to believe that charging money for your services is not as good as doing things for free Why it's actually selfish to not rest and recover because then, you're not showing up as your full self to those who DO matter in your life A third example of another one of my clients who was becoming burnt out because she was completely ignoring her nurturing, intuitive feminine self Why you should be taking as MUCH off your plate as possible, whether it's activities that drain you or beliefs that are subconsciously sabotaging you 10 things you needs to remember when it comes to resting in the hustle bustle: Understand rest is not indulgent Believe your highest value is when you are highly taken care of It’s selfish to deprive others from your fully rested self Do one thing really well instead of a ton of things just okay Outsource (cleaning house, a babysitter twice a week, grocery shopping service) Nap! Christian Sinclair: Spiritual Bullying, Conscious Dating and Discovering Your Spiritual Archetype

Episode 157: Christian Sinclair is a spiritual author and teacher who has worked with hundreds of clients, assisting them in creating dynamic shifts in their consciousness, lives, health, relationships, and careers. With a brazen honesty and commitment to the deepest Truth, she has developed a modern voice with an ancient foundation that allows for profound insights and results to transpire. Christian has spent her life in the spiritual field surrounded by New Thought leaders and Spiritual New York Times Bestsellers such as: Dan Millman, Doreen Virtue, Jimmy Twyman, Gregg Braden, Don Miguel Ruiz, Donna Eden, Mary Morrissey, and Dee Wallace, as well as many others. Christian's work has been featured in: The Huffington Post, YFS, Revamped Magazine and Elite Daily. She is the author of ultimate manifestation and abundance book, The Sacred Laws of Prosperity and Providence, and is the creator of the life changing Spiritual Archetype guidebooks. Christian created a Spiritual Archetype quiz that totally blew my mind with its accuracy. Find out your own archetype HERE. She was given a beautiful opportunity to see what really works for her in spirituality and what doesn't because her mother ran one of the biggest spiritual conferences and her father was a Course in Miracles teacher. The root of her business is helping people find the core of their problems and working on that, instead of simply "unblocking" limiting beliefs and others blocks Example: One thing she sees a lot of is people who think their entire life is in shambles because of their chakras being unaligned, and it's always so much deeper than that! If you think God hates you, no amount of "chakra alignment" is going to help you change your life Christian grew up around very strict Catholics so she does relate to feeling inferior, and even held the belief that God didn't love her for who she really was God created you exactly how you are, from your head to your belly to your heart. You are NOT an accident! Spiritual bullying: when somebody attacks a person or group in the name of being a "light-worker" If your "spirituality" is messing up your life, it's actually ego. Example: If you're a mean person and people say you're mean because you're just really religious- well, that doesn't make it okay! Finding out how much of your personality you want to portray in your business and how much you want to stick to doing God's work. How Christian started to take responsibility for attracting the type of partner she DID NOT want (and ended up not dating for 4 years in her 20s) How she met her husband accidentally and ended up getting married 3 weeks later (you're going to love this story) Some insight into her Spiritual Archetypes quiz and what that creation process looked like Must-read book: Lessons in Truth Connect with Christian: Website Facebook Twitter Instagram [Tweet "Learn all about spiritual bullying, conscious dating and archetype quizzes in today's #MBMPodcast "] {COACHING} Ready to break limiting beliefs + Take your self-worth to the next level? Apply for my 1:1 coaching HERE. {RETREAT} Want to join me in August for a LIFE-CHANGING trip to Mexico City? 10 Tips for “Mastering” Your Intuitive Eating Journey

EPISODE 156: You may have noticed that in the past year, I haven't discussed intuitive eating or body image - the premise of this show for about two and a half years. That's because I made a conscious decision in mid-2016 to talk more about spirituality, mindset, abundance, fears, love, relationships and other things which I realized were underlying factors of most food and body issues. When our relationships are spinning out of control, we try to gain back control through our food choices. When we're in the middle of making a big decision and we're afraid of making the wrong one, we turn to our food and our body all over again to gain some sort of control. Once you start to get a better grasp of a sense of control when you can and surrender control when you cannot control things, the body image becomes more apparent to your life. Today, I'm going to share with you a chapter of the book I've worked on for two months. The title of the book is The Weight of Intuitive Eating (as of right now) and it contains TONSSSS of tips and principles that I collected through my personal intuitive eating journey. I hope you enjoy this episode- please do let me know your thoughts by commenting below! Show notes: Want to have a taste of the Hot Cacao Mushroom mix and the Viking mix that I just can't have enough of? Go to foursigmatic.com and use the code "maddy" to get 10% off your purchase. If you're tired from hustling and want to regain freedom and control over your life, listen to my podcast with Taylor Conroy. Intuitive Eating is the nutrition philosophy where one learns to make food choices based on their body's natural signals. Learn more about the definition of intuitive eating in the book Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program that Works (Evelyn Tribole, Elyse Resch) Eating lunch at Whole Foods, I broke down as I stressed to my mom how guilty I felt over eating "too much" and consuming "too many" calories in just one meal. I was letting an uneducated comparison ruin a perfectly decent and beautiful meal. I had no information about the people sitting around me but I was obsessively comparing the meal I just ate to what they were eating. Food is just food. It's not life, not our identity! Do not compare your intuitive journey to others. The more you get away from technology during this process the better! Intuitive eating isn't a flawless process. There are at least 100 other examples from where that came from. Principle #1: Neutralize All Food. When you neutralize your food, you will no longer begin to see food as good or bad. Principle #2: Separate Morality From Food Choices. Our society is setting us up to think that our character relies on our dietary habits because of all the recent media focused on food morality. Principle #3: Let Go Of Intentions/Expectations. Instead of expecting to compensate for food by doing a workout or eating extra light, let go of these assumptions or intentions.  Principle #4: Ask Yourself "What Sounds Good To Eat?" Intuition is based on a feeling, a desire, a sensation, a gut instinct. Your body knows way more than you think it does, and in order to learn from it, you must ask. The simple act of asking yourself what you want shows a great deal of respect for your intuition. Principle #5: Ask Yourself "How Do I Want To Feel After This Meal?" Don't ask yourself what is this going to do to me but instead ask what is this going to do for me? Principle #6: Accept Imperfections. One part of intuitive eating is listening to your hunger and fullness cues. Gain what you can from each eating experience but don't dwell on it. Principle #7: Eat When You're NOT Hungry. Chances are, you're going to be in a situation where you are offered something you want but you're not hungry. Don't stress about it and just eat what you want. Life happens so eat when you're not hungry but be mindful ...Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Virginia Rosenberg: Uncovering Secrets Behind Your Birth, Debunking Misconceptions about Intuitive Astrology and Harnessing Your Inner Healing Powers

Episode 155: Virginia Rosenberg is an Intuitive Astrologer and Sacred Movement Artist whose work spans the globe. Extensive inner and outer travels inform her perspective. Virginia’s main interest is natural healing of self and society. Her formal educational background is in post-colonial and women/gender studies. A lifelong devotee of movement alchemies: dance, yoga, and Taoist internal martial arts, she teaches workshops and retreats for healing, self-remembrance, and community connection. Visit her website and read monthly astrological forecasts at www.VirginiaRosenberg.com. Show notes: Claim your free 10-day customizable meal plan from PlateJoy. Don’t forget to use the code MADDY to get a $10 discount on your membership fee HERE. Even as a child, Virginia Rosenberg was already writing poems about the sky, researching eastern philosophy and different moods of thought. Virginia’s background as a dancer also cultivated her passion for self-expression. She considers what she is today to be a combination of her unique background in embodiment and astrology. A lot of us are interfacing with this Masculine Society - to be involved in a lot of work, a lot of projects. Virginia refers to this as the perfectionist lens. When your physical health is affected by your masculine setup, that’s when you need to cultivate the feminine and the intuition in order to come to a balance. Qigong is a simple term for energy work. Qi stands for life force energy and Gong means energy cultivation - a result of consistent effort. There are different types of energy within and without us that makes us feel alive! If you take the time to be still, be meditative and be present of the energy around you, it becomes food for the soul. The energy you intake creates a healing power that replenishes you from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual emptiness. Qigong is like slow movements linking your body, mind and breath awareness to the present moment. Virginia recalls calling her teacher into her life instead of the other way around. She had thought and prayed about it so she attracted the practice and the energy into her life. It’s not about the intention. It’s about your openness and that intuitive pull! Intuitive Astrology is a language, an art, and a symbolic science. It’s basically a perceptive lens in which we are able to experience ourselves and experience the world. Some of the biggest misconceptions in Astrology: Sun sign Astrology - What you see in the newspaper is like solving a problem with just one piece of the equation. When Virginia reads your birth chart, she looks at a map of the whole sky in relationship to exactly where you were on earth at the exact moment of your birth. Identical Twins Misconception - Even twins or people of the same birthday can be different. The chart is like a structure for a soul light and the soul light is unique. A rising sign is the zodiac constellation that was on the horizon line at the moment of your birth. Understanding intuitive astrology as a language and using this tool to help us know ourselves better will help us become more fulfilled individuals. Once you get a grasp on why things are happening a certain way, you will be able to deal with situations in a calm, peaceful and rational approach. Anxiety & Overthinking: Let Go With the Aid of Self-Compassion and Spirituality

Episode 152: Chances are, at some point or another you have experience anxiety, obsessiveness, overthinking and/or perfectionism. A theme in my life the past couple weeks in both my personal life and my coaching practice has been the theme of anxiety and overthinking. How do you stop? How do you give your mind a second to rest? What does it take to "stop" anxiety? I know for certain what won't work, and that's getting anxious about the anxiety. That only promotes more anxiety about the feeling of anxiety and so on (helloooo snowball effect). Before you know it, you're feeling full of shame and guilt for having anxiety and not being "fixed" enough. In today's podcast episode I'm going to get very truthful about how to heal your anxiety and overthinking tendency through the power of self-compassion and trust in spirituality. I'm going to share a bit about how I too have experienced pain this year by being vulnerable, and how I've been healing my heart through the process without overthinking any of it. What anxiety feels like and why it's such a struggle to be vulnerable If you are always anxious and you overthink almost EVERY situation, do these: Accept yourself for who you are - acknowledge your anxiety, overthinking and/or depression Feel your feelings and be honest about them Must-read book: Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown How God intentionally made you who you are and the way you are How we are not in control of everything and why it's okay to let go and let God Looking at relationships as teachers Don't blame openness and vulnerability for any of the pain you experience Valuing yourself and putting an end to thinking something is wrong with you What my past relationships have taught me: Sex shame; it may take time to heal it, but the less thinking and more feeling you do the better! The beauty of having a partner who is both "in" his Masculine and his Feminine How to be more vulnerable, open and spoken from the beginning When you do an old behavior again (example: binge eating when you thought you were recovered), don't water-down all the beautiful progress you've made. Don't say "Oh I must not be recovered." You are! You're in a new chapter in life and happened to do an old behavior. It says nothing about you and your progress.
