Trevor Hall: Sending Love Outward, Sending Love Inward and Being One with Music

Episode 190: Raised on an island in South Carolina, singer/songwriter Trevor Hall realized at a young age that music was more than just a passion - it was, rather, his life’s art. At sixteen, he recorded his first album, soon after which he left South Carolina for Idyllwild Arts Academy in California. There he studied classical guitar and was also introduced to the practices of yoga and meditation, which would greatly influence his life and his music. Hall’s music, a blend of roots and folk music with hints of inspiration from India, has led him to a series of sold-out tours and collaborations with artists such as Steel Pulse, The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Matisyahu, Michael Franti, Xavier Rudd and Nahko & Medicine for the People. Trevor Hall’s Chapter of the Forest (2014) and KALA (2015), debuted at #3 and #2 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart respectively. He is currently touring around the US and Australia. While on tour, Hall collects donations to support children’s education in India. Hall’s latest album, The Fruitful Darkness, became the #1 Kickstarter Music campaign of 2017 (#30 of all time out of 53,000 Music projects) and is being released in three song installments on specific lunar ☾ dates, culminating in a 14-song deluxe edition release,June 1st 2018. January 2018 will also see the debut of the single/video, “What I Know”. Show notes: How Trevor Hall grew up in an environment filled with music, creativity and instruments The beautiful encouragement (rather than pushing) he received from his parents when it came to music Trevor's philosophy with love in the world The gift of giving love to someone without expecting a certain something in return A powerful parable for setting boundaries with people in your life: saluting the tiger from a distance Saying yes to everything is a form of spiritual bypassing "Love goes outward and it also goes inward" "The Divine Mother has so many children and they all have different stomachs." > it's important to know that what one person does may not be the best for you Trevor's meditation practice Being able to keep some things to yourself as a way to make them even more sacred Music is Trevor's "I Am"; it is not an identity he's trying not to be attached to. It is inseparable from his being. Why he loves traveling to the spiritual city of Rishikesh, India  Must-read book: By His Grace by Dada Mukerjee Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

6 Ways to Connect with Anyone Quickly and Deeply

Episode 189: Many people think they are connecting with others in a conversation, but oftentimes we fill our time with stories about ourselves while crossing our arms, diverting eye contact and forgetting names. Are you craving real, deep connection? Are you waiting for someone else to do it for you? This is where you can start.  This podcast is going to teach you how to begin to create authentic connection with ANYONE. You can create connection with the cashier at Target, the barista at Pete's Coffee or the person next to you on their yoga mat. I encourage you to stop waiting for "The One" in order to feel connected. Stop waiting for your soulmate BFF in order to feel intimacy in friendship. Creating connection with the world might be one of the most valuable skills you can ever learn. I definitely think this is an episode you'll want to take some notes on (and please, if you do the challenges I mention, let me know how they go!) Show Notes:  Say their name back to them / remember their name The sound of their own name is the sweetest sound Even going to a restaurant, swap names from the start Learn their favored sense (How to make anyone like you in 90 seconds or less: http://amzn.to/2DN2Ot4) People are capable of filtering the world through one of three different senses: visual, auditory or kinesthetic If you struggle to know how to communicate with someone…just look at their eyes. By doing so, you’ll learn which sense they favor and will know how to speak their language. Ask thoughtful questions about what they are speaking about We think we are connecting to people when we say “me too!” and go on to share our own story, but what we’re really doing is disconnecting Show legitimate interest in their life / background story Don’t interrupt them Women are often interrupted / begin to show respect by allowing people to fully finish Acknowledge them on something that they probably aren’t often recognized for Rather than “you have a beautiful smile” say “you have a really warm energy" Rather than “you’re cute” say “you have a gift for making people feel really comfortable" Body language Don’t cross your arms Look in the eyes Face your heart towards them Must-Read book: How to Win Friends and Influence People Get a FREE book with Audible HERE Get a list of my top 100 favourite books HERE Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

What to Do When You Failed At Something You Cared About

Episode 188: I work with a great deal of exceptional women doing incredible things on this planet. They're dating, raising babies, starting online businesses, making new friends, moving across the country, being vulnerable and/or re-evaluating the course of their life (all of those things are equally brave and amazing). Even still, they find themselves falling into the comparison trap when they look at what their peers are up to. I speak with women every day who are brave enough to go after their biggest dreams...and are still met with debilitating, identity-shattering failure. What do you do when you find yourself "failing" at the projects, quests and dreams you've had your heart set on? What do you do when you find yourself paralyzed after comparing yourself to your peers and their great deal of accomplishments? This podcast goes out to all the perfectionists, dreamers and doers out there who want to come to peace with where they are in life and even learn how to enjoy the journey more.  Show notes: What happens when you fail at something your identity is intertwined in “No experience is ever wasted if you learned something” How happiness is different from joy Diving deep into a question asked by a woman in my FB Tribe: "I failed my bar exams for the second time while I worked really hard to succeed. It made me feel so bad about myself like I can't achieve anything at all. I decided to pass it again. But my morale is very low. I can't stop comparing myself to others who in my eyes have already succeeded much more." When your identity is intertwined with your accomplishments, your life is essentially on pause until the accomplishment happens. (and then paused again until you've achieved your next desired accomplishment) "Have unshakeable grace"- Yashoda Why you never want to measure your life as a success by using a metric that is out of your own control Some amazing lessons on failure from Abe Lincoln here How to know if you're failing because you're meant for a different path...or you're failing but need to persevere on the same journey An example in my own career that presented a lot of trials/struggles but why I kept going on the same path Strengthen your rejection muscle with rejection therapy here Get your a list of my 100+ favourite self-care, body image, online business, financial abundance and Divine Feminine/Masculine books FOR FREE here Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Connection vs. Attachment (what's the difference?)

Episode 186: Have you ever found yourself attached to a person you were in a relationship with, even though you saw red flags and way too many warning signs? Ever felt attached to a particular job or a role in life that you felt recognized for? Have you ever been attached to a moment so much that you weren't even present during it? Attachment has the power to completely take us away from the present. It keeps us either in the past or the future, longing for things to be final or permanent. Connection, on the other hands, makes room for the unexpected. Connection is intimate, synced, vulnerable and present. While you may not know this, connection and attachment are reflections of your self-worth. If you're attached to everything, you may struggle with your valuing your own being, though if you allow room for connection and play, you feel your self-worth at a much higher level. What do I mean by this? Listen to today's podcast episode to get the inside scoop. If you really enjoy what you hear, download/print the free graphic on the show notes displaying the key differences between attachment and connection. Keep it in your journal for safe-keeping, or hang it up in your bathroom! Learning the difference between connection and attachment will drastically change your life-- I know it has for me.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Episode 185:  Jason Nemer is the co-founder of AcroYoga. He has been blessed to have many great teachers on his path. His family was always very supportive of his many passions. His younger brother brought him into gymnastics and from there he found acrobats playing at the gym and was hooked on both. Why Focus Is The New Hustle

Episode 183: We are so fortunate to live in an era of information, mentorship, spirituality and technology. Our dreams are not only accessible but they are encouraged. With that said, we are surrounded by neighbors and friends doing incredible things too and we can easily get swept up in the desire to hustle more to achieve more. No matter what your goal is (relational, financial, emotional, physical), the best approach is going to be an approach that is focus-driven...not hustle-driven. When you are in a state of hustle, you are in a state of frenzy. You're almost panicked. Like, if you forget to check off one of your hundreds of to-do's, you are suddenly behind. This is a surefire way to never reach fulfillment in your goals and to run yourself dry. When you adopt a lifestyle of focus, not only are you more at ease with the relationship you have with your goals, but you are able to accomplish tasks at the same time as feeling energized and fulfilled. Life is not about doing everything and anything all at once. It is about nourishing your whole being- and sometimes that means focusing on one or two important things rather than many.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
