Episode 136 The Return of Cold As Life

Episode 136 The Return of Cold As Life Despite internet fan fiction writers best efforts to make the 90s hardcore scene into something it never was, I put forth some real thoughts towards what this show really means, some of what was the real aspects of hardcore that is completely lost in a modern scene full of resold merch and people loving obscure youtube records and missing the entire point of the scene they try to emulate. Thanks for having us be a part of the reunion, Those of you who haven't listened to the Jeff Gunnells Episode.. Episode 133 Jami Morgan of Code Orange

Episode 133 Jami Morgan of Code Orange 3 years ago as this podcast started, I had Jami on Episode 8. In the last 1000 days give or take, Code Orange managed to continue to press the boundaries of the music industry and themselves to new heights. Their latest efforts have featured Billy Corgan and showcased both a growth mindset in their writing and refinement in their ability to drop some heavy riffs into a song. Their new LP The Above drops September 29th. Their release party will be at Preserving Underground in Pittsburg Pa September 30th featuring Madball, Etown Concrete, Pain Of Truth and more. www.codeorange.komi.io www.instagram.com/codeorangetoth Opening Track Of The Episode xNomadx - Now - off the demo www.4ephyra.bandcamp.com/track/now

Episode 131 Tony Rettman . Author of NYHC and other books

Episode 131 Tony Rettman . Author of NYHC and other books Growing up the kid brother of the City Gardens DJ is a sick way to walk into hardcore punk. His first show he wasn't out of grade school. Over time he would go from writing zines to writing freelance articles for multiple magazines. Eventually he would work with Revelation Records on Why be something you're not, focusing on the early Detroit scene. Later he would work on the collection of interviews for NYHC - 1980-1990 which would end up being released on Bazillion Points. His latest was Straight Edge - A Clear headed Hardcore Punk history also on Bazillion points. This was a fun one with alot of insight in how the writing side works on articles, zines and books. There is alot more to his story that he tells better than I can type out. www.rettman.substack.com (go here to purchase signed copies of books) www.instagram/no.idols.hc www.revhq.com/products/tony-rettman-why-be-something-that-youre-not-dcore-1979-1w www.bazillionpoints.com/books/nyhc-new-york-hardcore-1980-1990-by-tony-rettman/ www.bazillionpoints.com/books/straight-edge-a-clear-eyed-hardcore-punk-history-by-tony-rettman/ RIP Dave Stein - clips taken from www.youtu.be/Nr8BOcyi3EY?si=xtVtY5s-ZxnnPVs_ Opening Track of Episode Worn - Burning Dread from Condensing Flesh From Within Records www.instagram.com/wornhardcore www.instagram.com/fromwithinrecords

Episode 130 Nancy Barile

Episode 130 Nancy Barile RIP Flippy Nancy Barile is an Philadelphia Hardcore Original. She wrote a book "I'm Not Holding Your Coat" on her path to punk rock and beyond featuring some of the iconic early moments of Philadelphia's burgeoning Hardcore scene. Our conversation goes alongside and beyond the book to Philly- centric and cultural happenings of the times. Her story is a great first hand account of the early days of what we would eventually inherit as our own scene. So many great stories that I'll leave her to tell it in the book and on here.
