We had the pleasure of interviewing The Cush over Zoom video! Mad Bunny Records proudly releases Riders In the Stardust Gold, the latest from Indie rock band, The Cush. This is the band's six release and their first with Mad Bunny Records. The album features six original songs, all of which were written by band co-founders, husband and wife Burette and Gabrielle Douglas. The music was recorded in their hometown Fort Worth, Texas primarily at Empire Sound Studio by David Castell and Jerry Hudson at Eagle Audio. All six tracks - "Haters", "Beneath the Lines", "Chariots of Smog", "Ajna Returns", "Fly" and "Daydream Beach" – were designed to take the listener on a sonic journey, transcending to new states before riding back into the stardust again. The lead single from the album, is "Haters", a song with an expansive haunting sound that was co-produced by Ben Harper. The track got a warm reception at radio - launching at #3 on NACC Top 5 Folk Adds and #5 on NACC Top 10 streamed/downloaded singles and this week breaking into the NACC Top 200 and charting at 188, where it continues to ascend and gain heat. For the video the team tapped Texas director Justin Wilson. Gabby said, "Justin was able to portray hate as an energy, and how it is often elusive until you learn the truth of where the hate came from. We were also trying to communicate that even though hate is an intense energy and can often be contagious, we can rise above and make peace with how things are in order to heal what hurts". Riders On The Stardust Gold is available digitally everywhere. Vinyl will be released in July. Mad Bunny Records is founded by multi-GRAMMY Award winning musician Ben Harper and is distributed by INGROOVES. Mad Bunny offices are based in Silver Lake, California and Brooklyn, New York. Interview with Emanuel

We had the pleasure of interviewing Emanuel over Zoom video! One of the most anticipated debut R&B albums of the past year, Emanuel's full-length project ALT THERAPY has been unveiled to the world today via Motown Records & Universal Music Canada. Before the world experienced moments of great upheaval and change this past year, an unknown new artist in Canada, a son of Ethiopian immigrants, had unknowingly written music that was prophetic to the times. His debut single, the emotionally stirring "Need You", was released as the global pandemic struck, resonating with people around the world who were forced into isolation. Months later, when the brutal killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Trayvon Martin sparked a worldwide reckoning of systemic racism and racial inequality, Emanuel offered "Black Woman" to the world -his moving ode of reconciliation that honors the majesty of Black women. Last month, as vaccines were distributed and possibility began to take the shape of reality, Emanuel shared his prayer for the future with the release of "Worldwide". Now, during the week of Juneteenth and one year after the release of his debut EP Session 1: Disillusion, Emanuel celebrates freedom, growth and love with ALT THERAPY, his full-length contribution to the "renaissance of beautiful black art in the world." ALT THERAPY is a journey. A narrative of discovering a deep self-awareness and celebrating personal growth, Emanuel's debut album is the testament of a young man in the process of becoming a great man. A collection of 12 songs, ALT THERAPY is home to Emanuel's two EPs released in 2020, Session 1: Disillusion (nominated for the2021 Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year JUNO Award) and Session 2: Transformation, as well as six additional songs: the manifestation mantra "Worldwide", the revelation of new love on "Pillows", the emotional plea of "I Need a Doctor", the inner reckoning on "Detention", the discovery of authentic love on "I Been", and the rare male R&B duet on "Hindsight" featuring fellow Toronto R&B artist Dylan Sinclair. Also released today is the visually striking official video for "Worldwide", a song born out of Emanuel's deep yearning to take his music, its message and energy, to people around the world while experiencing and absorbing the wisdom of many cultures. Directed by Kit Weyman and Executively Produced by Director X, the video is a visual depiction of Emanuel's "Worldwide" manifestation mantra. Emanuel's talent is indisputable. Discovered by Canadian hip-hop icon Kardinal Offishall, launched by global superstar Idris Elba, signed by legendary R&B record label Motown Records, honored with a JUNO Award nomination for his debut EP, and championed by fans, critics and industry partners alike, Emanuel is one of the most destined new voices in R&B. Interview with iNTeLL

We had the pleasure of interviewing iNTeLL over Zoom video! iNTeLL, mastermind behind 2ND GENERATION WU, son of Wu-Tang Clan's U-God, and carrier of the legendary hip hop collective's creative torch, ponders an important philosophical and theoretical question with producer DLP on his new album Computers For The Hood. The record aims to unite old-school with new school, featuring guest spots from hip-hop legends Method Man, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, R.A. The Rugged Man, among others. The journey to Computers For The Hood was a long and arduous one for iNTeLL, as he was having creative burnout, in addition to ongoing stresses caused by the COVID pandemic. However, this road has led to the best work of his career so far. Computers For The Hood is a tight 11 track showcase of creative partner DLP's raw old school-influenced production that still has a modern flair perfect for 2021. The beatwork serves as the perfect canvas for iNTeLL to confidently lay down memorable bars, hooks, and stories that serve as a perfect homage to his home turf of Staten Island. "A few years back, when I was still earning the respect of my peers, Young Dirty Bastard had reached out to me to appear with him for several shows. At one of the shows, I met my future wife Prema777 (who is featured on the track "Django Hardware") and at another, I met DLP," explains iNTeLL about the road that led him to Computers For The Hood. "Shortly after that, DLP approached me about producing a collaboration record between myself and Young Dirty Bastard. I saw this as an opportunity to also include some of the other sons of Wu-Tang, so I reached out to a Method Man's son PXWER. We ended up laying down what would later become the track 'We Here Now.' At the beginning of 2021, DLP reached back out to me and wanted to record a possible EP together. However, I was at a point of exhaustion from creating and building the 2nd Generation WU brand in addition to being burnt out from 2020." "Suddenly though, an opportunity to work with Del tha Funkee Homosapien came up," iNTeLL recalls excitedly. "He is not only one of my lyrical mentors but one of the dopest emcees to exist, so I quickly signed on for that collab." Inspired by this initial pairing, he explored the possibility of gathering a veritable collection of features and collaborators that helped solidify Computers For The Hood."We ended up being able to secure verses from Method Man, Del, the Team Backpack champion Denzil Porter, Tahmell (son of Rakim), my second collaboration with Mickey Factz, Ruste Juxx, and the king of lyrical Horrorcore R.A. The Rugged Man. This little EP turned into a full-fledged studio album with notable features, incredible production and a message that resonates." Computers For The Hood by 2nd Generation WU's iNTeLL x DLP is out now! We want to hear from you! Interview with Monique Nikkole

We had the pleasure of interviewing Monique Nikkole over Zoom video! Brooklyn, NY songstress Monique Nikkole and H-Town heavy hitter Lil Flip sparked magic with their combined talents for the new single "Red Bottoms And Lingerie". The chemistry between Monique Nikkole and Lil Flip is electric on this track and overflows on screen in the official music video! The anticipated new video features a fresh remixed remastered new version!! The new version was recently released with an official music video on all platforms!! "Red Bottoms And Lingerie" is a pivotal song for Monique Nikkole. A lot different from her classic R&B/Jazz roots and her first release "Say Yes" that put her on the map. This song was presented to her by her manager Michael Stemley. It was written by Ray Lavender and produced by C Scott / JHott Scott. Monique loved it and viewed it as a challenge! It was a total style flip. Short choppy cadence, more of "today's" R&B sound. Monique, being the enigma that she is, did exactly what she always does. Made it her own and put her stamp on...letting her signature adlibs shine. The original version for this song dropped in January and has enjoyed early success! We want to hear from you! Interview with Tarah Who?

We had the pleasure of interviewing Tarah Who? over Zoom video! Tarah Who? well, "she" equals "they," and "they're" a power duo masterminded by grunge-punk front-woman Tarah Carpenter, who channels explosive emotionality into rousing anthems alongside drummer/backing vocalist Coralie Hervé. Tarah Who? are set to release their new single "Illusion of Freedom" co-produced by Jason Orme (guitarist for Alanis Morissette) and Tarah, following the success of their 2020 EP "64 Women." This EP was dedicated to 64 women who were detained in an immigration detention center in downtown LA on November 19, 2014 alongside Tarah herself. This powerful theme of immigration is something that crosses over into Tarah Who?'s new single as she examines her relationship with immigration having grown up in France, and now living in Los Angeles. Tarah was born in France and began smashing away at the drums at just 14 years old, ignoring those around her who suggested she try her hand at a more "ladylike" musical pursuit. Willful, and somewhat stubborn, she honed her chops, forged her own creative path, and branched out to bass, guitar, singing, songwriting, and producing. After a fateful move to Los Angeles, Tarah made her solo debut as Tarah Who? at a warehouse party. It was a gig she found on Craigslist, and it proved to be the perfect opportunity to share the songs she had been writing privately. Soon after Tarah connecting with drummer Coralie Herve and this is when the current incarnation of Tarah Who? was born. Stay tuned to Tarah Who?'s socials (below) for more information on the release of "Illusion of Freedom" and what Tarah Who? has in store for 2021. We want to hear from you! Interview with Ruth B.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Ruth B. over Zoom video! 25-year-old multi-platinum Ethiopian-Canadian singer and songwriter Ruth B. is excited to share her new album Moments In Between, executive produced by Patrick Wimberly (Beyonce, Solange, Blood Orange, Ellie Goulding), on Downtown Records / The Orchard. Moments In Between is a raw emotional accounting of the anxieties and uncertainty Ruth faces as a woman in her mid-twenties, giving voice to her inner strife via warm vocals, shapeshifting textures, and hazy harmonies. The new album serves as the follow-up to Ruth's gold-certified 2017 debut Safe Haven – a critically acclaimed release featuring "Lost Boy," a Peter Pan-inspired piano ballad that went viral when she was still a teenager. Ruth made a number of unexpected breakthroughs when creating Moments In Between: from revelations of being scared to ask for help ("Princess Peach") to reflections on self-growth ("Situation") and romance ("Holiday"). On Moments In Between, Ruth pushes her musical and personal dynamic to a new level of boldness and sophistication, embracing her most beautifully strange impulses while delivering her most impactful work to date. From woozy R&B and pop beats to guitar driven tracks and folk-like reveries, the songs on Moments In Between showcase Ruth B.'s ability to seamlessly traverse a multitude of musical stylings, and will surely add to her 1.5 billion artist streams to date. Ruth B. credits her songwriting and storytelling abilities to her upbringing as the daughter of Ethiopian immigrants, listening to the music of her parents' homeland alongside American icons like Stevie Wonder and Lauryn Hill. For this project, Ruth also worked with producers Justin Raisen (Angel Olsen, Santigold) and Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, Ashe) who encouraged her to dig deeper in the writing and recording process than she ever has before. "Writing songs has always been therapeutic for me," says Ruth, "and I hope that hearing my songs helps other people in the same way. Whether they're feeling lonely or heartbroken or happy, I want them to know that someone else understands what they're going through." Last month, Ruth B. announced her upcoming bespoke Global Digital Tour, in partnership with Moment House and sponsored by Music.com. Moment House is a premium digital live platform that connects artists and their core fans for global, elevated ticketed experiences — called Moments. Ruth will be hosting exclusive Moments for several different areas/regions: North & South America, Asia, Australia & New Zealand, and Europe, UK & Africa. Full dates below.
