Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing ATREYU over Zoom video! ATREYU SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SONG "SAVE US" Orange County metalcore mainstays ATREYU have shared the video for the new song "Save Us," which was produced by John Feldmann. "'Save Us' is not only a reflection of where we are musically, but also a mirror to the world in this ominous moment in time," the band says. "We chose to pair the powerful message with one of the heavier songs we've ever written. This song feels like the anthem that we all need right now. To us, it's a call to action to light the fire in ourselves. We can begin to make great change — but only if we look inside first." With singer Alex Varkatzas recently departing, drummer and clean vocalist Brandon Saller will move into the frontman role. Guitarist Porter McKnight is now handling the harsh vocals, while Kyle Rosa joins the ranks as drummer. Atreyu are working on their eighth album, which will be released via Spinefarm Records. Interview with Hyro The Hero

Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Hyro The Hero over Zoom video! Better Noise recording artist Hyro The Hero today releases his new single "We Believe" featuring rock legend, David Draiman. Over a turbulent riff, Hyro decries "internet activists" with a venomous flow before launching a caustic and catchy call-and-response with Draiman on the hook. Chillingly, it culminates on a scream of, "I can't breathe." "It's actually about hope," he states. "We all have decisions to make. Everybody pulls you one way or the other. You have to pick the lesser of two evils in all situations. Personally, I'm trying to find a way. I can't believe I'm rapping on a song with David, but I really can't believe I'm singing a song with him. It's a special moment, because I tried something new with my voice." Draiman explains of the collaboration "I'm incredibly honored. Hyro is a truly amazing artist and I had a blast working with him. This track is exactly what the world needs right now. It's time to believe again." The video for the track was directed by Matt Mahurin, an award-winning filmmaker, photojournalist and illustrator who has had work in Time Magazine, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Esquire and more. His unique vision is the visual merging of the raw poetry of the rapper with the raw power of the rocker. Hyro and Draiman representing the duality of our daily lives. While the video explores the world's struggles, the final message is one of not only revealing the fear, anger, and intolerance of humanity's worst, but also reveling in the joy, love, and power of change through humanity's best. As hard rock and hip-hop co-mingle more than ever before, the time feels right for Hyro The Hero. After non stop touring in support of his last album, Hyro dove right into the studio with producer Matt Good [Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead, From First To Last]. Under a flurry of inspiration, they recorded an entire album over the course of just two weeks. In the process, he expanded his sound dramatically. "You can see and hear the growth in this album," he says. "I had to go through everything that brought me to this point and I've really learned how to focus on storylines and approach records structurally and lyrically. All of my experience built up respect to work with some of my heroes on the new material." He grins and says, "I want to have my name in this game for a lifetime." With this new music, he's well on his way to such a status. Find Hyro The Hero on social media: SPOTIFYINSTAGRAMTWITTERFACEBOOKTIK TOK We want to hear from you! Interview with Gus Dapperton

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Gus Dapperton over Zoom video! Combining a strong visual component with dreamily produced songs, sophisticated indie songwriter Gus Dapperton became known for colorful narrative videos and lovestruck songs that channeled '90s influences. Working with mostly analog instruments and playing, arranging, and recording everything himself, the artist released songs online when he was still in his teens but began to break through with the 2017 single "I'm Just Snacking." The song and its viral video caught on, and before long Dapperton was touring and being asked to create a song for the Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why. This exposed him to even more legions of fans, and he quickly followed his 2019 full-length debut, Where Polly People Go to Read, with 2020's Orca. Gus Dapperton was born Brendan Rice in Warwick, New York in 1997. After finishing high school he attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, studying music technology and working on his own songs. He soon left school and returned to New York, where he began developing the Gus Dapperton persona. Using analog synths, reverb-heavy vocal crooning, and an overall smoothly produced take on bedroom indie, he began releasing songs online in 2016, gaining some traction with compositions like "Moodna, Once with Grace" and "Ditch." Early reviews of his sound drew comparisons to Mac DeMarco and King Kruel's hazy melodicism. His 2017 single "I'm Just Snacking" and its conceptual and stylized accompanying video brought Dapperton even more attention, eventually leading to coverage in Vogue magazine. That year he and a full band did extensive touring of the U.S. and Europe, and also released the four-song Yellow & Such EP. Another viral video arrived late that year for "Prune, You Talk Funny," eventually racking up millions of views. He created the song "Of Lacking Spectacle" for the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, building the song from a quickly captured voice memo and recording the final version of the tune in a hotel room while on tour. Second EP You Think You're a Comic and new single/video "World Class Cinema" were released in 2018. Following two additional singles in early 2019, Dapperton issued his full-length debut, Where Polly People Go to Read, that April, which included the hit single "World Class Cinema." In December, Dapperton was featured as a guest artist on New Zealand artist Benee's single "Supalonely." The song's themes of isolation and disconnection coincided with global lockdowns that started early the next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it quickly became a worldwide hit. He then began sharing new songs in advance of his second album, Orca. Lighter on dreamy synths and bedroom pop production, the rougher-edged Orca was released in September of 2020. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi We want to hear from you! Interview with ABISHA

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing ABISHA over Zoom video! With her ability to seamlessly blend alt R&B vocals and singer songwriter melodies, ABISHA has distinguished herself as an unmistakable rising talent in today's music scene. The world was first introduced to ABISHA via alternative R&B slow-burner 'All That' followed by the sultry 'Project X' and 'Confused'. Since then, her R&B roots have only deepened and her sound has evolved to become that much more personal, as evidenced by her latest project, Scorpio. Though on first impression Scorpios may seem aloof, there is so much more beneath the surface. There is a softness, sensitivity and desire to connect with others on a deeper level, all themes undeniably present across the sensual EP, out now. Scorpio is an honest and intense expression of ABISHA's self-reflection and vulnerability, with each song on the project representing qualities of each of the four elements. The title track and final single symbolize Water, that which is intuitive, sensitive, and emotional. Fittingly, these qualities are also associated with Scorpios, often considered the most enigmatic of the star signs. As a multifaceted talent, ABISHA has been honing her craft as a DJ, playing at Isle of Wight Festival and Parklife. She is also focused on her modeling career, most recently featuring in campaigns for ASOS and Superdry. We want to hear from you! Interview with Trevor Dahl (Cheat Codes // Dahl)

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Trevor Dahl over Zoom video! Trevor Dahl of multi-platinum EDM trio Cheat Codes returns with soul-stirring new track, "Best For Me," an orchestral ballad that sees Dahl grapple with forgiveness and acceptance as he ruminates on his ex. "Best For Me" is the third single off of his forthcoming debut EP, After Ours. Earlier this year, Dahl introduced the EP with romantic ballad, "Can I Kiss You" and later revealed "After Ours," the EP's title track that revealed a more rhythmic side of Dahl's repertoire. He also recently collaborated with Josie Dunne on "Stay The Way I Left You", a catchy and charming duet that stole the hearts of listeners. . Before he was collaborating on electro-pop hits with Trippie Redd, Demi Lovato, Liam Payne and Fetty Wap, Trevor Dahl was making music on his own terms. With the rapid rise of Cheat Codes with bandmates Kevin Ford and Matthew Russell, the trio has made it a priority to also focus on their own creative endeavors. Now, going by his surname, Trevor makes music as "Dahl" in a project parallel to Cheat Codes, returning to his solo roots. With a hybrid of current influences from Bazzi and Lauv alongside the lyricism of John Mayer, Dahl proves himself to be a triple threat: a writer, producer, and mixer. Dahl is a rare talent who can truly do it all! We want to hear from you! Interview with Asaf Avidan

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Asaf Avidan over Zoom video! Asaf Avidan has shared his new album Anagnorisis today, a ten-song collection recorded earlier this year in Italy during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recording in relative isolation, Asaf uses the album's ten songs to tap into the complex, inherently chaotic and ever-changing nature of what it means to live in our current moment. In a career that has seen him hit #1 in 14 countries across Europe, headline the continent's biggest festivals and sell out its biggest concert halls - Anagnorisis marks what is perhaps Avidan's most complete statement as an artist to date. Named after the Greek literary device in which a character experiences a sudden and complete moment of revelation, Anagnorisis comes to the conclusion that nothing is truly that simple or that easy. "The voice and the poetry of Asaf Avidan fascinates me," says NPR Music's Bob Boilen about Anagnorisis. "He sings like nobody else." Boilen's NPR Music colleague Stephen Thompson has added that the new record "grabs your attention the second you hear it." We want to hear from you! Interview with Amahiru

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Amahiru over Zoom video! Amahiru is the new musical powerhouse of Frédéric Leclercq (Kreator, Sinsaenum, Ex-Dragonforce) and SAKI (Mary's Blood, an all-female metal band from Japan). Their friendship began in 2015 when Mary's Blood played as the support band for Dragonforce in Hong Kong. Frédéric and SAKI got along very quickly and it didn't take long before they started working on a musical project together. In the following years they exchanged many ideas and Frédéric finally came to Japan in March 2019 to finish the songs. So the music of Amahiru is just a mixture of Kreator and Mary's Blood? "No, it is much more than that", as Frédéric Leclercq explains. "I'm influenced by many artists, pretty much anything I hear I can consider an influence and music should be the reflection of that. With Amahiru I personally wanted to do something groovy and melodic and still metal/hard rock. We didn't want to make 12 songs sounding the same. SAKI and I have a lot in common musically and it was really easy to work together in the same direction. I'm not going to pinpoint which parts, but I can hear Pantera, Extreme, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, MSG, Iron Maiden, Megadeth…the list goes on." Although you would still classify the album as a "metal album", you cannot ignore the oriental elements that Saki brought in. Especially the Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese woodwind instrument), which was recorded by the Japanese virtuoso Kifu Mitsuhashi, gives the world of Amahiru a great, exotic touch. Some prominent musicians from the metal scene have taken over the other roles in the band. Coen Janssen from Epica, who has also played keyboards in several Dragonforce productions, joined them first. Then came Mike Heller, known as the super drummer of Fear Factory and Raven. The biggest challenge was to find a suitable singer for the band. "Originally we wanted to have more traditional metal vocals", Frédéric Leclercq describes. "But when I came to Japan to finish the songs, SAKI and I realized that we needed something more… ballsy." Then he met Archie Wilson. The vocalist from the UK may be less well known than other musicians in this band, but he is obviously the key to Amahiru's music, as Frédéric confirms. "He has a strong voice, a great sense of rhythm and he is totally versatile. High notes are no problem for him and he can be melodic and aggressive at the same time – the perfect match for Amahiru and the last missing piece of the puzzle". Amahiru may sound like a Japanese word, but it is not actually. Oddly enough, it was coined by Frédéric himself, not by SAKI. And the word was born in his dream. "We were trying to find a name and I had a dream in which someone was asking me to sign a contract for this band, Amahil, and the number 13 kept appearing in the contract. When I woke up, I actually remembered the dream vividly and started to do my little "thinking process". Amahil sounded ok, but what if a Japanese person had to pronounce it? A ma hi ru . Ok, does it mean anything? I googled the name, nothing. Then I tried "Hamahiru" just for a different spelling sake, and here is the freaky thing: "Hamahiru" means 13 in Basquian . AND I DONT SPEAK BASQUIAN. I texted Saki immediately, told her the story and we were sold!" Amahiru's self-titled debut album, which was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren and produced by Frédéric Leclercq himself, we just released! We want to hear from you! Interview with Dave Mason

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Dave Mason over Zoom video! When you poke around his recording studio, right away it's clear that Dave Mason is not your average Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. The story is on the walls. There's the platinum record from the first Traffic album, the band he co-founded with Steve Winwood. His role in Traffic alone, including writing the ubiquitous classic "Feelin' Alright," automatically solidifies Mason's rarefied rock status. But keep perusing all the records on the wall and it hits you: that's just the beginning… He came of age during England's tumultuous musical explosion of the early 1960s, always working his way up close to the stage to watch, among many others, the Beatles, the Stones and Dylan. Unlike the thousands of others around him however, a few years later he'd be working with all of them (and many other legends). It all comes back to all of the gold and platinum LPs on the walls. Mason played in recording sessions with his friend Jimi Hendrix, crafting guitar parts and singing background vocals on some of Hendrix's most iconic hits. When the Rolling Stones recorded "Street Fighting Man" in 1968, they didn't know it would become one of their best-loved anthems. But they did know they wanted Dave Mason playing on the session. Bob Dylan brought Mason in to record with him because of how much he respected his singing and songwriting. And long after Mason sat in on some Beatle sessions, Paul McCartney enlisted Mason to play lead guitar with him on McCartney & Wings' number one song, "Listen to What the Man Said." If all you documented were the memorable moments Dave Mason added his magic to the work of legends, that alone could fill a book. George Harrison. Crosby & Nash. Delaney & Bonnie. Eric Clapton. It just goes on. But it's Mason's vaunted gold and platinum solo career that truly defines this artist; a storied and unforgettable ride that started in the clubs and wound up selling out theaters, arenas and stadiums all over the world for the last 50 years – and is still going strong today. From pop-rock standards like "Only You Know and I Know" and "We Just Disagree" to many other beloved classics, Mason's knack for soulful, insightful songwriting coupled with his expressive guitar playing endears him to generations of faithful fans and listeners. So broad are his skills and accomplishments that he becomes hard, if not impossible to define. Sensitive poet? Gritty guitar gunslinger? Revered inspiration to countless singer/songwriters? He's all of those things and more; an eclectic, enigmatic musical everyman whose countless artistic achievements place him in the rarest of company. The "quiet giant" sits at the console of his studio while the visitor continues to fixate on the gold and platinum albums adorning the walls. Mason doesn't have time to live in the past. Rather, he's hard at work crafting and sculpting his next sonic collection, looking ahead, focused on the future. "This is what I know how to do," he laughs. "This is what I do."
