Welcome to this week's special guest, Jack Steele!By popular demand, Jack Steele joins us on Dyl & Friends as the recently elected Captain of the St Kilda Football Club (Congrats Jack!). Jack's become a household name in the AFL world but like all superstar players, he's had a unique journey. Jack's journey in football started at a young age in his hometown of Canberra where he joined the GWS Giants academy at the age of 13. Five years later, that same club would select him in the 2014 National Draft with pick 24. Steele struggled to stamp his authority at the Giants and departed the club after two seasons despite an eagerness to stay. Jack's had plenty of adversity in his career and battled some early self-doubt at the Giants but five years later, he's well and truly triumphed. It's not often the Tagger becomes the tagged but two club best-and-fairests and two All-Australians later, Jack is now one of the most valuable and revered players in the competition. This week on the show we have a special guest with an incredible story in Richard Harris. In June 2018, Richard became a household name when his profession as an anaesthetist and his hobby, cave-diving became a crucial combination that would play a major role in the Tham Luang Cave Rescue. You may remember this internationally covered rescue where 12 members of a Thai soccer team and their coach were saved after being trapped whilst caving. Richard and I spoke about his experience in Thailand, the strategy and planning that went into the rescue as well as his passion for cave-diving. I can't thank Richard enough for coming on for this chat and I know you will get a lot out of Richard's story and general outlook on life. And we are back for 2022, fam! I am delighted to kick things off in style by welcoming back an absolute favourite in the Dyl & Friends alumni, Emma Murray. Emma Murray first featured on the show early in 2021 where we spoke about the positive influence she had with athletes across the AFL (and beyond) as well as the launch of her business, High Performance Mindfulness. Without getting into the technical details, Emma helps people perform at their absolute best through techniques around meditation and mindfulness. Emma and I had plenty to update each other on and we spoke about some of the after effects people may be dealing with following the past two years. We also spoke about the ways in which we can build positive habits in our lives to combat lifestyles that may lead to chronic stress.
