We also unpack how clubs are managing list builds, relationships between players and journos, and the sometimes blurry line between facts and favours. Yesssss welcome back Faffers! We were lucky enough to be joined by former Magpie, Dog and all round good bloke Travis Cloke following his game for Heathmere as part of the 2025 Carlton Draft. Yessss welcome back to another Weekend Review! The mood was much better this week—no hard outs, no quad injuries, and fewer phone calls! Mick and Brett kicked things off by secretly playing a game of Buckley Bingo, trying to get Dyl to drop as many FAF clichés as possible (it only lasted 10 minutes). This week on Dyl & Friends, we’re joined by former #1 draft pick, Collingwood star, and now Head of Development at the Pies, Josh Fraser. Frase was one of my coaches back in the day at the Blues and I have him to thank for so many good lessons learnt in my life. Josh was taken with the top pick in the 1999 draft and walked into one of the biggest clubs in the country as a teenager. He went on to play 200+ games in the black and white, feature in two Grand Finals, and build a reputation as one of the most skilful and mobile rucks of his generation. In this chat we spoke about life as a number 1 draft pick, playing under Mick Malthouse, the near-misses with those early 2000s Pies sides, and the challenges of transitioning into coaching after retirement. Josh also opened up about leadership and what he’s learned working with young athletes across AFL and development pathways. It was bloody awesome to catch up with Frase for a chat.
