Learning Languages in the Metaverse with Quinn Taber

In early 2018 while working as an investment analyst for a large charitable foundation in the Middle East. Immerse has raised $11.5m from impact investors, been named Meta and ByteDance’s preferred partner for learning, and launched the only two-sided marketplace in the metaverse.
On one side Immerse students learn a foreign language from a live instructor in Immerse’s popular virtual worlds. On the other side of the marketplace, Immerse has created the first platform that allows brands to advertise in the metaverse by launching branded virtual real estate, running metaverse marketing campaigns, and then minting branded digital goods that earn money. The Immerse team was recently named top ten “VR Educator of the Year'' and top ten “Most Innovative VR Company of the Year,” as well as winning six other industry awards.

How to tell a story in VR with James Castillo
Our guest on The XR MAG Show for today is an Award-Winning Director and Designer based in London, UK.
Meet James A. Castillo, Born in Madrid, Spain, James finished his studies in Singapore in 2012.
With a decade of experience in the animation industry, James has worked as an illustrator, art director, designer, and most recently as a director and screenwriter.
His clients include studios such as Sony Pictures, Nickelodeon, Disney, and Netflix, where he currently works as a lead designer.
In the summer of 2021, he made his directorial debut premiering his Virtual Reality film “Madrid Noir” (Oculus) at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
In addition to participating in more than a dozen international festivals. The film has won several awards, including the “Best Experience” Award of the year at the VR Awards. Madrid Noir has also won the Crystal Owl for Best Narrative Experience at Stereopsia and a Webby Awards for best immersive project in 2022.

Minimalist design in games with Thomas Van Bouwel

Cubism is a deceptively simple puzzle game in VR where you assemble increasingly complex shapes out of colored blocks.
Thomas is a Belgian/Brazilian VR developer with a background in architecture. He first made the switch to VR in 2016, when he started working as a product engineer for a start-up called Resolve. In 2020 he launched his first commercial game, Cubism, and since 2021 he’s been working in the games industry full-time.
