Episode #18 - Michael Capes, Jesse Podawful, Rucka, Cutting the Cable, Amazon Rifle, Gator Hand, Space Music

Cable TV is estimated to lose nearly $1 billion next year. With more and more people cutting the cable and turning to alternatives like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, the debate this week is: IS CUTTING THE CABLE WORTH IT, OR WILL CONSUMERS END UP SPENDING MORE IN THE LONG RUN? I'm joined this week by my good friend and host, Michael Capes (https://twitter.com/themikecapes), hot off the heals of releasing his latest "Hacks of Life" episode where he not only sneaks into a movie, but brings with him an electric hot-plate to cook fresh popcorn right in the theater. Definitely one of my favorite Capes videos, in a catalog full of excellent videos: https://www.youtube.com/embed/FtJWKdTgRXY Plus my homey Jesse P-S from PodAwful (http://podawful.com/) calls in and shits all over the news. Not just cable news, but any news. He doesn't care for it. In fact, he cares so little about the news, he hasn't watched or read any since September 11, 2001. Also, I forgot to link to Laurie Foster's SUPER (http://www.super-comic.com/) comic last week. Check it out! Check out these badass wares from K&H: https://rss.madcastmedia.com/bestdebate/18/kh_products1.jpg And here is the HD antenna I was talking about on this episode, only $30 on Amazon. It works best in larger cities. I get over 65 channels: all the network channels + a bunch of public access crap, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese channels. It's awesome: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IF70T4M/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_jvS8xbA0YT6W4 And here's the strange Quad Cities DJ mix of Daytona: https://www.youtube.com/embed/iyVr1ux1Cok And for anyone interested in space music, check out Russ Garcia - Fantastica. Episode #17 - Mike Gamms, Colin Kaepernick, Fart Boxes, Five-second-rule, Lost Bets

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: US football player Colin Kaepernick recently protested against police brutality in America by taking a knee during the national anthem. So the question this week is: IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO DEBATE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AND YOUR COUNTRY'S FLAG? YES or NO? This week we're joined by Mike Gamms, funny comedian and all-around solid dude. He shares some interesting anecdotes about his friend, Andy Dick. Also, check out Rucka's page while it's still his because he lost it in a bet, along with everything to his name. The lesson here is: don't question my opinion on the FDA. Special thanks to HARRY'S! Go to Harrys.com and use the promo code, BDU, to get $5 off your first purchase. Welcome back Harry's. Step up your shave game with Harry's. Thanks for your support. We received some badass fan gifts this week. First, a bunch of sauce-related shirts from listener Justin Deering: https://rss.madcastmedia.com/bestdebate/17/justin_deering1.jpg And long-time friend of the show, Laurie Foster sent us a care package of the newest SUPER: https://rss.madcastmedia.com/bestdebate/17/super1.jpg The debate this week was about whether NFL player Colin Kaepernick's protest during the national anthem was appropriate. Many people have weighed in on both sides of the controversy, including coach Mike Ditka, who thinks Kaepernick should, "get the hell out of the country." Should he? Weigh in by voting. Results will be binding next week. Episode #16 - FDA debate, Wayland McQueen, Rucka, Walmart Heist, Lemonade Stand Theft, Found Cocain

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Candidate Trump recently called for the elimination of food regulations, and then promptly deleted the declaration from his website. But not before people debated the merits of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The debate this week is: ARE FOOD REGULATIONS NECESSARY, OR WILL THE MARKET CORRECT ITSELF? YES, THEY ARE NECESSARY or NO, MARKET WILL CORRECT ITSELF? We have an actual philosopher joining us this week, Wayland McQueen. He's also a brilliant comedian and writer, but is he brilliant enough to take down a master debater in a heated debate about the FDA? Only one way to find out, and it takes 1 hour, 21 minutes and 21 seconds. https://twitter.com/WaylandXTREME Wayland and Rucka brought the heat this week, with Sean dropping his usual nuggets of wisdom about the FDA. This may be one of the most well-rounded debates in the show's history. Plus, I think Rucka thinks chimichangas are an Armenian food. News flash: all foods are Armenian foods. We invented everything. I'm trying something a little different with the voting this week: since the debate was mostly well-rounded, rather than voting before and after listening, I'm having listeners vote on which side was more persuasive and what you think I truly believe. Also if you lost your bab of cocaine at Sam's Club in Eastern Pennsylvania, please call the police to retrieve it: http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2016/09/04/police-if-you-lost-your-cocaine-at-sams-club-call-us/ Plus, a man dressed as an armored truck driver walks out of a walmart with $75,000. Awesome. And speaking of theft, a man gave a phony $50 bill to a girl who was selling lemonade to raise money for Alzheimer's research. Wayland makes a pretty compelling case for the criminal. And as promised, here's video of cops shutting down a lemonade stand. Episode #15 - Blake Vapes, Rucka's Armenian Song, iPhone 7 vs Android, Punched Babies, Italian Wankers

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Apple has officially announced the iPhone 7 with one huge notable omission: no 3.5mm headphone jack. Many critics have suggested going to Android, which raises the question: which is a better phone platform? iPhone / iOS or Android? This week we're joined by Blake Vapes, whose videos frequently receive more views than Russian daredevils, Yoko Ono and vice presidential candidate, Mike Pence: https://www.instagram.com/blakevapes/ Also, a brand new song from Rucka, as a tribute(?) to Armenians around the 6-minute mark, which may be my favorite podcast moment ever. Special thanks to HARRY'S! Go to Harrys.com and use the promo code, BDU, to get $5 off your first purchase. Welcome back Harry's. Step up your shave game with Harry's. Thanks for your support. This was a long episode this week, with a ton of great voicemail and a hearty recap of the previous week's debate. Turns out everyone had an opinion on it; every single listener. Plus, an important milestone: the show has received over 500,000 downloads already! Badass. The debate this week is a clash of the titans: iPhone vs Android. I decided to change the format a bit and only argue one side if the guests did an adequate job defending the other position. Guess who had to save the day? Hint: his name rhymes with Maddox. Here's a funny Jimmy Kimmel clip we didn't get to, where he gave people their own phone and told them it was an iPhone 7 and they couldn't tell the difference: https://youtu.be/HxXbrnJ6l4A And here's that stone-fox mom whose baby got punched: https://rss.madcastmedia.com/bestdebate/15/fox_mom_baby.jpg And here's the BBC iPhone 7 report: https://youtu.be/SzCUolv3HKI The voicemail number is: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). madcastmedia.com Sources: BBC - Warner Brothers reports own site as illegal - http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-37275603 Apple Plugs - The totally real and not a parody website for Apple's iPhone 7 announcement - http://appleplugs.com/ CNN - Italian Supreme Court rules in favor of public masturbation - http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/08/europe/italy-supreme-court-masturbation/index.html LA Times - ITT schools to shut down - http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-itt-tech-20160906-snap-story.html Yahoo News - Man punches baby in face - https://au.news.yahoo.com/world/a/32555981/newborn-baby-punched-in-face-in-supermarket-because-man-thought-she-was-a-doll/#page1 "Mining by Moonlight" and "Music to Delight" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode #14 - YouTube Censorship, Michael Malice, Rucka Rucka, Brock Turner, Honduras Miracle, No Mario's Sky

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: YouTube is facing a backlash because they're disabling monetization for controversial videos. Google says that this has been its policy all along, but now they're just being transparent about it. It spawned the #YouTubeIsOver hashtag to trend, causing a lot of outrage from big creators on the site. The question this week is: WILL THIS CAUSE CENSORSHIP? YES, IT WILL CAUSE CENSORSHIP or NO, CREATORS STILL HAVE CHOICE? This week we're joined by bestselling author and Fox News regular, Michael Malice. Michael is a regular on Fox Business' Kennedy show, as well as Red Eye. Here's the book he wrote after he visited North Korea: https://www.amazon.com/Dear-Reader-Unauthorized-Autobiography-Jong/dp/1495283259/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&qid=1473104285&sr=8-1&keywords=dear+reader&linkCode=li3&tag=bpitu-20&linkId=adada6aee5fd94f5b7ac24a9aa48a09f This week's debate is a hearty one about YouTube censorship and whether or not self-censorship is even censorship. Rucka doesn't seem to think so. What do you guys think about my pledge to keep "The Best Page in the Universe" ad-free? Is it awesome or is it very awesome? We also talk about a woman who had a heart attack and was buried in Honduras, and was exhumed because her boyfriend thought he heard voices. Being resurrected would indeed be badass, but turns out she wasn't. We also discuss the Brock Turner case, and the game "No Mario's Sky" which was developed in 72 hours. Holy shit! And there's slightly more to do than "No Man's Sky:" http://www.itechpost.com/articles/27117/20160902/no-mario-sky-features-no-man-s-sky-and-super-mario-gameplay-mashup.htm The voicemail number is: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). madcastmedia.com Sources: Jalopnik - Reporter fired for criticizing dealership ad - http://jalopnik.com/reporter-fired-after-criticizing-dealer-ad-but-no-one-1608466776 Kotaku - Games writer fired over writing bad review - http://kotaku.com/5893785/yes-a-games-writer-was-fired-over-review-scores Vox - Phil DeFranco threatening to leave YouTube - http://www.vox.com/2016/9/2/12746450/youtube-monetization-phil-defranco-leaving-site Variety - YouTube slammed for pulling ads from "inappropriate" content - http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/youtube-slammed-by-creators-about-pulling-ads-from-inappropriate-content-1201850250/ Forbes - YouTubers threaten to leave but rarely do - http://www.forbes.com/sites/fruzsinaeordogh/2016/09/02/making-sense-of-youtubes-great-demonetization-controversy-of-2016/#9c2a0365b0d7 Mirror.co.uk - Honduras miracle? Episode #13 - Trigger Warnings, Kristen Brancaccio, Robin Higgins, Rucka Rucka, Gay Farmers, Crappy Children's Artwork

The University of Chicago recently announced that the school officially does not support "trigger warnings" and "safe spaces." The question this week is: DO TRIGGER WARNINGS AND SAFE SPACES BELONG ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES? YES, THEY CAN BE HELPFUL or NO, GROW UP? This week, the super talented Kristen Brancaccio, finalist on HBO's "Project Greenlight." I found out way too late into the episode that Kristen was Italian, so most of the stereotypes were directed towards Sean and his pending spaghetti mixer. Kristen is also one of the producers of Screen Junkies' "Gamer Fights," a video game debate show I was a guest of recently. Spoiler: I won. She also launched a new site, Surviving and Thriving in LA, an insightful compendium of information for people coming to Los Angeles. I'm also joined by the always delightful Robin Higgins. She drops some chemistry truth bombs and we discuss the history of heroin on her YouTube channel. Plus deputy moderator, Rucka Rucka Ali is back, and keeps us on track with the big debate this week about trigger warnings. Sean has my real opinion in a sealed envelope, and we had a surprisingly robust debate about the topic. Surprising to everyone but me because I predicted that it would be excellent and my prediction came true. Here's the "Trigger Warning" by Sunrise Skater Kids / Jarrod Alonge that we mentioned in this episode: https://youtu.be/rqMrZlLJXRA And here's the PBS Idea Channel discussion on trigger warnings: https://youtu.be/XvoYtUhjRWM We also discussed Rush Limbaugh's theory that the federal government is encouraging gay people to become farmers to make red states more blue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBW5H8Hcik0 madcastmedia.com Sources: NPR - University of Chicago tells freshman it does not support trigger warnings - http://www.npr.org/2016/08/26/491531869/university-of-chicago-tells-freshmen-it-does-not-support-trigger-warnings Vox - I'm a liberal professor, and my liberal students terrify me - http://www.vox.com/2015/6/3/8706323/college-professor-afraid MSN - Company turns kids drawings into real-life dresses - https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/offbeat/this-company-turns-kids-drawings-into-real-life-dresses/ar-BBw5Q0K "Mining by Moonlight" and "Music to Delight" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode #12 - Jesse P-S PodAwful, Rucka Ali, Comedian Rape Allegations, Amy Schumer, Kurt Metzger, Aaron Glaser, Olympic Penis, Subway Hero, Deez Nuts

Comedian Aaron Glaser was banned from Upright Citizen's Brigade in New York for sexual assault allegations without knowing who the accusers are or whether or not they've even gone to the police. Should sexual assault victims always go to the police, or is it pointless? YES, GO TO THE POLICE or NO, IT'S POINTLESS? Big announcement this week: the first new show to join the Madcast Media Network is PodAwful with Jesse P-S. It's been a long-time coming and we'll soon be hosting The Best Debate in the Universe and PodAwful on Madcast Media: http://podawful.com/ Recently the New York branch of the improv and comedy theater, Upright Citizens Brigade, banned comedian Aaron Glaser because he was accused of rape by several women. Many notable comedians have weighed in on the decision, including Kurt Metzger, a former writer for "Inside Amy Schumer." The controversy reached a boiling point this week and we discuss the reasons why sexual assault victims don't always go to the police. This was a great debate and one of my personal favorite shows. Deputy moderator Rucka Ali is back and has a new reaction-to-reaction YouTube series where he reacts to people reacting to his own videos. Plus more "Armenian" callers, Tourettes Russian, Sean's Italian in-laws and Persistent Lumbergh. We wrap the show up with the Olympic pole-vaulter, Hiroki Ogita, whose penis may have bumped the pole during his vault. Plus the FEC wants to disqualify candidates like Deez Nuts in the future. And here's the video of the pole-vaulter himself: https://youtu.be/DP1DzFPbvKo The voicemail number is: 1-562-58-I-RULE (1-562-584-7853). madcastmedia.com Sources: Facebook - Hero of the month: Deanna Carter - putting a stop to subway masturbators - https://www.facebook.com/deanna.carter.3914/videos/668026926678451/ NBC News - Amy Schumer writer sparks firestorm - http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ex-amy-schumer-writer-s-rants-rape-spark-firestorm-n633516 RAINN - Criminal Justice statistics - https://www.rainn.org/statistics/criminal-justice-system RAINN - Laws regarding mandatory reporting - https://www.rainn.org/laws-your-state-california Mirror.co.uk - Pole-vaulting penis video - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/athletics/japanese-pole-vaulter-hiroki-ogita-8652936 BBC - Japanese pole vaulter Hiroki Ogita bewildered by reports of penis disqualification - http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-37103648 USA Today - FEC cracks down on DEEZ NUTS - http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/08/19/fec-cracks-down-on-fake-candidates/88993532 "Mining by Moonlight" and "Music to Delight" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode #11 - Wry Mantione, Rucka, Renting to People of Color, Metroid 2 Remake, Water Park Decapitation

Is it discrimination if students ask for only non-white roommates, or should it be allowed? Or maybe it's discrimination and it should still be allowed. A student from Claremont Colleges in California recently did just that, looking to create a "safe space" inside her home: I debate the merits of this claim with this week's guest, director of marketing from Full Moon Entertainment, and alternate-lifestyle evangelist, Wry. Full Moon Entertainment, if you'll recall, is the company behind my masterpiece film debut, Ooga Booga. Also, here is a quick survey to help out the show: http://survey.libsyn.com/madcastmedia I received a metric shit-ton of voicemail at the top of the show, thanks in no small part to Rucka's various shenanigans about minutes that are allegedly Armenian. Though there's a silver lining: we're receiving a lot more calls from Sean's old Italian in-laws. Episode #10 - Taylor Nikolai, Rucka, Free College Tuition, Race Wars, Hot Corvette Mom, Snoop Dog

I'm joined this week by social marketing master, Taylor Nikolai, who thinks I don't pronounce his name correctly. Taylor drops some wisdom in the form of Gamification Theory when it comes to education, so much like how Pokemon Go has gamified exercise, he thinks the same can be done with education as a whole. Look forward to solving for Eigenvalues in the next Dark Souls! I also witnessed the start of a race war on my street. I brought in the clip of a black guy (who we come to learn is half-Mexican) going toe-to-toe with a Mexican delivery man. Who wins? You, the listener, because I recorded the entire thing. Plus Rucka is back and pleased to hear all our new Italian and Armenian callers. Also, here is a quick survey to help out the show: http://survey.libsyn.com/madcastmedia We also discuss whether Snoop Dog should be culpable for encouraging his fans to rush the stage, which caused it to collapse. And as promised, here's that hot Corvette mom. Is it just me? https://rss.madcastmedia.com/bestdebate/10/ Stone fox. Correction: Her knuckle tattoos say: "FEAR - LESS." Badass. Episode #9 - Prisoner Voting, Rucka, Mikey Bolts, Austin Blank, Marina Joyce, English Bulldogs, Soup

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: The Virginia Supreme Court recently ruled that the governor doesn't have the right to restore voting for ex-offenders. The question this week is: SHOULD EX-OFFENDERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE? YES or NO? I'm joined this week by Austin Blank promoting his art project, Soup Flavored Blankets. Check out these shitty Yelp reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/soup-flavored-blankets-black-rock-city-3 I'm also joined by Rucka (http://ruckasworld.com/) and Mikey Bolts (https://www.youtube.com/user/michaelbalalis) who just released his impression challenge #9. Also, here is a quick survey to help out the show: http://survey.libsyn.com/madcastmedia This week we discuss Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe restored an ex-offender's right to vote, and the state supreme court struck it down. Is this constitutional? How long should prisoners be punished for crimes they've committed after they've been released? What other constitutional rights should we withhold from prisoners? The right to bear arms? Many people would think so. We also discuss how screwed English Bulldogs are, and that their only way out of their genetic flaws is to screw their brains out. Also, we touch on the weird Marina Joyce controversy on YouTube where a bunch of dipshit Internet sleuths thought she was kidnapped by ISIS, instead of using Occam's Razor to conclude that it was a PR stunt.
