E34: Understand why framing your problem statement matters.
Problems are always solved by people, and business problems today are increasingly more complex and ambiguous. That makes it harder to clearly define and articulate them. Framing helps to structure thinking about these problems by giving them a specific light. In the end, framing helps people to see things in a particular light.
In this episode, we have guest Jamie Flinchbaugh Entrepreneur, Senior Executive, Consultant, and Author.
Jamie talks about how he has watched people struggle to get better at problem-solving and the most important one is just framing the problem that you're dealing with. So, if we're stuck with any kind of a problem, then we need to have a little bit of tension, a little bit of conflict, challenge each other to think harder, and then break out of our current situation. And those breakthroughs require so much more effort. And so I believe that good problem solving should invite disagreement.
"Ownership is about taking the next step, not just seeing a problem and looking back and admiring the problem and just hoping somebody comes along." Jamie Flinchbaugh.

E33 Keep Investing In Leadership Skills And Become A Better Leader
Keep Investing In Leadership Skills And Become A Better Leader.
In today’s world, organizations need to be proactive about leadership development. Leaders must develop their skills and abilities to meet the challenges of the future. Only two out of five businesses think they are developing leaders who benefit the company.
Leaders who adapt well are those who are quick to learn new things. Adaptation is a key part of leadership because you need to know when to change your approach based on what happens around you. You also need to be flexible enough to understand that people may behave differently depending on the situation or environment. Leadership development is an important part of change management.
In this episode, we have guest Mark Herschberg, MIT Instructor, Fractional CTO, and the author of the book, The Career Toolkit.

E32: Almost no one likes change, but change is necessary for growth
Change management is an integral part of any business strategy because it helps employees feel comfortable with the changes occurring around them. People should feel safe when making changes, and they should also know what they're getting into before they start. Companies should provide support for employees who are going through change, and they should also help them prepare for the changes.
In this episode, we have guest Charlotte Allen, CEO of Rebel Success for Leaders.

E31 How to think outside of your own experience.
Reflecting on what you've learned helps you retain information better. It also allows you to apply what you know to new situations. So this episode is a re-run where I had a great conversation with Terry Barnhart about how to teach people to think better - especially the advantages of skill stack, work in collaboration, and how to think outside of your own experience.

E30 What exactly is an innovation strategy?
Strategy is about choosing between a number of different options to get the best possible result. Innovation is just one of the methods used to achieve your strategic goal. Without a good innovation strategy, it's hard to achieve long-term results. An innovation strategy is a plan for developing new products or services that will help you grow your business.
In this episode, we have guest Bruno Pešec, who helps business leaders innovate profitably & President of Pesec Global.
Bruno talks about how an innovation strategy is an approach to managing change that focuses on new ideas and ways of doing things. It helps companies think about how they will respond to changes in their environment. An innovation strategy can help a company plan for the future, make decisions about its products and services, and communicate these plans effectively.

E29: Your strength as a leader comes from yourself
Leadership is about helping people to realize their potential. If you want to lead, you must learn to listen. People often think that leaders are born, not made. But leadership is learned. Leaders are learners. They learn from experience, from mistakes, from successes, from other people. They learn from themselves and from each other. They learn to ask questions, to seek answers, to understand why things happen.
In this episode, we have guest Stacy Ashley, High-Performance Leadership and Coaching Expert.
Stacy Ashley talks about that you need to be connected, have the skill set to connect to yourself because your strength as a leader comes from yourself. She talks about how you must be able to contribute as a leader and provide leadership to the people who are looking to you for leadership.
"Leadership is about helping people to bring those gifts out and really help people to realize their potential" Stacy Ashley
Key takeaways:
1. Understand how leadership is about helping people to realize their potential.
2. Recognizing that being able to communicate online is a new important leadership skillset.
3. Understand how you can improve as a leader by stopping speaking as much and starting to listen more.

E28: How to overcome failure & setbacks
Setbacks in life are inevitable. You can choose to view them as positive lessons instead. We should learn from our mistakes, but we shouldn't dwell on them. Minor setbacks can help us grow stronger and get closer to reaching our goals. You also need to take responsibility for your own success. If you want to be successful, you must take ownership of your actions and results. You will not achieve success if you blame others or circumstances for your failures. Instead, learn from your mistakes and make changes to improve yourself.
In this episode, we have guest Darrell Evans, Digital Growth Strategist & Co-Founder & CMO of Yokel Local Internet Marketing.
Darrell Evans talks about the MindShift Method - where you must make peace with the facts, make new decisions based on those facts, make a plan and make it happen. He also talks about how leadership is the art of being able to pivot and being interested in the outcome of the whole and just not really worried about your role in terms of who gets the credit.
"We can't take responsibility for someone else's mistakes. But we got to take our responsibility for: Is there something I could have done as a leader to end up with a better outcome?" Darrell Evans.

E27: Vulnerability in the workplace is the root of authentic leadership
It’s a well-known fact that people who are vulnerable are more likely to be liked, trusted, and respected. They make better leaders because they are open to feedback, willing to admit mistakes, and able to connect with others on an emotional level.
In this episode, we have guest Zoe Routh, Strategist & Leadership Expert, Owner of Inner Compass.
Zoë Routh talks about how vulnerability and openness are two key leadership qualities that are often lacking in today's organizations. She also talks about how you can practice workplace transparency and how we need to expand our perspective (deep and wide perspective). One way is to dive deep below the surface is to use a visual representation called a "problem tree" which helps people understand complex issues by breaking them down into smaller parts.
"if we're not learning from what didn't work, then we are not progressing" Zoë Routh.

E26: Innovation readiness is a critical issue for any organization
It's easy to think of innovation as something that happens only in the lab or in small start-ups. Yet innovation is a key component of every business strategy. In fact, the term “innovation” itself derives from the Latin word meaning “to find again.” Companies need to continually reinvent themselves to remain competitive. They do this by developing new products, services, and ways of doing things.
Companies need an innovation strategy because innovation is a complex undertaking. In addition to the usual suspects—technology, people, and capital—innovations depend on a host of other factors, including organizational structure, culture, and the nature of competition. Most important, however, is the innovation system itself: the set of interrelated activities, structures, and processes that govern how a company goes about searching for novel problems and solutions.
In this episode, we have guest Michael Haynes, B2B Customer Strategy Consultant & Business Growth Strategy Planning at Listen Innovate Grow.
Michael Haynes talks about that there are 5 elements of business innovation: product, services, organizational structure, process, and your marketing strategy and to succeed you need to be in alignment with your customer market and B2B buyer needs.
He also talks about that doing the upfront work really sets the framework for how you move forward and the lack of not doing enough of that that leads to miss opportunities or creating products that people don't want.
"We need to fail to a degree so that we can learn so we know how to move forward, how to be innovative and competitive" Michael Haynes.
