Rockefeller: The Pursuit of Wealth as a Sacred Calling
Rockefeller believed that accumulating wealth was a divine mission, believing that he was put on earth by God to make money and use it for the betterment of humanity. He saw wealth as a sign of God's grace and poverty as a sign of heavenly disapproval. Despite the disconnect between his methods and his religious beliefs, Rockefeller was a highly talented entrepreneur. He possessed rationality, thoughtfulness, systematic approach, commitment, diligence, curiosity, and attention to opportunity. He was superior to his competitors and associates, who he saw as amateurs.
