Procedural generation and the importance of artifact personality

Procedurally generated artifacts often lack personality due to the focus on combining multiple stat modifications. Designing artifacts with too many effects makes it difficult to determine their true purpose. However, by stripping back the number of effects and focusing on a core concept, such as embodying the power of lightning, artifacts can feel more special. Procedurally generating artifacts with only a few significant effects can enhance their flavor and prevent them from becoming a collection of random stats. It may be challenging to fully integrate the mechanics with the thematic elements, but doing so can further enhance artifact personality.
