How Effective Frequent Short Walks Are
Frequent short walks, especially those lasting five minutes every half hour, have been found to lower blood pressure, burn fat, increase blood flow, and offset the harms of sitting. While one to two-minute walks once per hour helped lower blood pressure, the full benefits for blood sugar required five-minute walks conducted more frequently. In fact, moving for five minutes every half hour reduced the blood sugar spike after a meal by almost 60%. These findings are surprising and show that even slow movement or walking is enough to achieve significant health benefits, making frequent short walks a highly effective way to improve health.
