The first step in getting a handle on your anxiety is mapping out your anxiety habit loops. This involves identifying the trigger (the feeling of anxiety), the behavior (such as worrying, eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, or procrastinating), and the result (such as avoidance or feeling in control). Mapping out these three elements allows us to understand how our mind is responding to anxiety. This mapping process is a critical first step in addressing and working with our anxiety behavior.
