Love is not about never letting someone down, but it is about never wanting to let them down. Love is a verb, a feeling of never wanting to disappoint or hurt the other person. Even though I may hurt you at times, it will be due to my own imperfections and insecurities, not because I want to hurt you intentionally. I may make mistakes and betray your trust unintentionally, but I will always try to be on your team. This is a realistic expectation of love.
