In order to have aligned cross-functional teams, it is crucial to establish clear decision making processes. It is not necessary to report to one person for all decisions, but for each decision, there should be one clear decision owner. This avoids the inefficiency and unhealthiness of having all decisions go through a single person. However, it is important to clearly define who owns each decision and who should be involved in the deliberations.
