*Negative Visualization: Stoic Technique to Reset Your Reference Point and Your Hedonic Adaptation *
By changing our mindset, our attitude, and the things we attend to, we can have a richer life and savor things more. The Stoic technique of negative visualization involves visualizing the loss of everything we think is good in life, which helps reset our reference point and stops hedonic adaptation. This technique allows us to appreciate the positive aspects of our lives and prevents us from taking them for granted. Negative visualization can also be applied to relationships, such as imagining the last time we'll ever talk to our loved ones, which increases our appreciation for them. By practicing negative visualization and shifting our focus to what truly matters, we can change our perspective and have a greater sense of gratitude.
