The brain's prefrontal cortex can adopt new rules for reward release through the dopamine system. By attaching thoughts to rewards that come with better health or aesthetics, the brain's dopamine system responds, leading to a real positive response. Believing that a food is nutritious and good for you can actually have a better impact on your physiology. Adopting a growth mindset and perceiving effort as a closer step to the goal can also become a rewarding state over time, proportional to the magnitude of the goal.
