Parallel Universes and the conceptual invention of Quantum Computing

The insight from this snip is that the idea of parallel universes is connected to quantum theory. The Everett interpretation of quantum theory is simply accepting quantum theory itself. The speaker thought of a test to distinguish between the multiverse version of quantum theory and the Copenhagen interpretation, which involves an observer and the collapse of the wave function. To test this, the speaker proposed using a quantum computer running an artificial general intelligence program to perform an experiment on itself. This idea of using a quantum computer in this way was conceptualized in 1977-1978.
