The Prophecy Workshop: Launching September 11

Something is being asked of us. -Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel

Since launching Lost Prophets in September 2024, we have searched together for two things: first, to find the prophets we need to hear at this moment; and second, to better understand what true prophecy means—what it asks of us, in Heschel’s phrase.

Another way to say this: we want to recover the concept and practices of spiritual politics—in community. In that spirit, we want to invite our listeners to become active participants in the project.

On Friday, September 11 at 1PM ET, we are launching The Prophecy Workshop. The Prophecy Workshop will be a weekly group conversation over Zoom for friends of the podcast and anyone interested.

Register for a Zoom link (good for all weekly sessions) on our Google form here or at: Workshop.LostProphets.org.

In each session, hosted every Friday from 1PM-2PM ET, we will reflect on short readings (all PDFs or accessible online) related to key themes we’ve distilled from several of our lost prophets:

* Prophecy/Exile—readings from A.J. Heschel, Marc Ellis, Daniel Berrigan, bell hooks

* Inner Sanctum—readings from Heschel, Thomas Merton, Thich Nhat Hanh

* Askesis/Renunciation—readings from Ivan Illich, Gary Snyder, Dougald Hine

* Vocation/Work—readings from Peter Maurin, Paul Goodman, Wendell Berry

* Inhabitation—readings from Gary Snyder, Wendell Berry, bell hooks

* Conviviality—readings from Ivan Illich, Jane Jacobs, L.M. Sacasas
