WSU AD Anne McCoy : Why Jimmy Rogers was the right fit and future of WSU athletics

Washington State athletic director Anne McCoy joined Jason “Puck” Puckett to discuss the whirlwind that has been Washington State football in the last month.  They discussed the Jake Dickert departure and whether or not Dickert and his representatives could have handled the situation better. 

What happened to the roughly $2 million dollars that the Board of Regents earmarked for athletics and why did President Kirk Schulz not inform McCoy that they had the money for football and didn’t find out for nearly 6 weeks after which Dickert took the job at Wake Forest?

Anne talks about her current relationship with Schulz and the board of regents, are they truly on the same page and can communication be better between upper campus and athletics? 

When did Jimmy Rogers land on her radar and what made Jimmy Rogers the right choice for WSU?  Was Rogers the only candidate offered the job? How serious of candidates were Brent Vigen at Montana State and UCONN’s Jim Mora?  

McCoy talks about the correlation between Rogers and basketball coach David Riley. Two young coaches who have had immense success at the lower level, but they also are significantly underpaid compared to their predecessors. How much did financials play a part in the hiring of Rogers?

McCoy says the football assistant pool will stay at $4.5 million. There were reports that it was going to be cut to $3.5 million.  Have contract talks started with basketball coach David Riley and will there be beer sales at Martin Stadium next season?  Lastly, is the Pac-12 closer to finding an eighth football school?
