Many individuals who had very difficult childhoods with parents struggling with mental health issues consider whether their lives could be calmer and better overall if they were to stop having contact with their parents/siblings/other family members who have caused so much turmoil and conflict. In this episode, I discuss when and why people consider this, what factors should be considered in your decision, and ways to cut yourself some slack when you feel guilty and ashamed over even having these thoughts.
