Florida grants special tax district to Universal Studios

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has granted a special tax district to Universal Studios, allowing the company to create a new park called Epic Universe. The district will be funded by taxes and fees assessed on landowners within the district, with Universal Studios and Ride a Development Corp being the only landowners. The special district's board of supervisors consists of Universal employees. This move is seen as a response to Disney's lawsuit against DeSantis for revoking the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which was created to support Disney World. The issue is currently ongoing and is expected to not go in DeSantis' favor.
