138. Fast Friday: Dr. Zach Bush's 4 Top Tips for Holistic Mental Wellness
Welcome back to our bi-monthly Fast Friday conversation! These mini episodes are meant to supply you with some quick tips, inspiration and motivation to support you throughout your week.
Today we are talking about mental health.
Mental health is imperative to our physical and social wellness. For many, spiritual, emotional and mental wellness undergo turbulence around the holiday season. It isn't uncommon to feel a bit nostalgic and blue around these hyped-up, darker and chillier times.
According to Mental Health America's 2022 rather grim report, 19.86% of American adults are experiencing a mental illness. That equates to nearly 50 million Americans. The estimated number of adults with serious suicidal thoughts is over 11.4 million—an increase of 664,000 compared to last year’s results.
So... how the heck do we get back on track here? In fact, what does it really mean to be mentally "well" these days?
I recently tuned into Zach Bush MD's webinar on mental health, which provided essential tips for nourishing your emotional self. I jotted down some notes on the points that resonated with me with the hopes of sharing some ideas with YOU. In this episode, you'll hear my thoughts on Zach Bush's following tips for mental wellness:
- Identifying your feelings and how they physically manifest in your body.
- Accepting these feelings without judgement.
- Creating a safe space to feel.
- Being a source of presence and supportive for yourself and others.
Sending love and peaceful well-wishes to you and yours this holiday season.
