Those of us old enough to remember Stanley Kubrick’s blockbuster movie, 2001: A space odyssey, are likely to be at least a little concerned about the growth of the electronic medical record. In the movie, the spaceship’s computer ran amuck and started killing off the astronauts. Salvation could only be achieved through unplugging the machine. Is this cautionary tale an allegory for our times? What does the future hold for the EMR? Our guest today is Justin Barnes who is Vice President Marketing, Corporate Development and Government Affairs. He has testified before Congress and the Administration 7 times in the past two years. Among his many committee appointments include service on the privacy expert panel of the Certification commission for Healthcare Information Technology.
