However, it does fascinate me how loving someone takes much more work than being loved.

Everyone would be married if it was easy. Because who doesn't want a partner and friend for life?
But you see, when you open yourself up to loving someone more than you love yourself --- No strings attached
- Love that's unconditional
- Boundaries that are agreed upon
- Believing in his/her greatness before it's experienced
- Serving beyond the easy
- Giving of your heart even when it hurts
This is what brings about courage. You have to love deeper!
The K.I.S.S. ~ Love deeper than ever before (including yourself)!And that's a hard thing to do nowadays especially when the focus is primarily on oneself.
- Selfish versus selfless. Here is where you get to command the heart and head to connect with how love was created. And that is loving yourself so you can love others more deeply. This includes your spouse. Yes, you must take care of yourself, but that doesn't mean you only do what's right for you. Care and love go hand in hand.
- Unbalanced is balanced. Now, this definitely goes against the grain. You cannot have 100% balance in a relationship. There will never be a balance in any relationship. There is ALWAYS give 'n take. So that's being unbalanced, but in a healthy manner. There will be times that you focus specifically on your spouse, yet other times when your spouse is focused on you.
- Knowing what you don't know to stay curious. You cannot know everything about your spouse UNLESS you stay curious throughout your marriage; meaning death til us part. Always have an inquisitive mind and heart. Keep learning and leaning in.
Loving someone deeply gives you courage because you are stepping out of your own ways. Life isn't just about you.
When you accept your spouse with unbridled love, you set yourself up to take a chance on a person who too needs love with no strings attached. Love is patient, love is kind. (1 Corinthians 13:1)
