There are strong correlations between the body's circulatory system and the eyes. The eyes contain tiny blood vessels, as thin as a strand of hair. Blood is crucial for nourishing the retina and keeping the eye healthy. However, poor circulation due to heart disease could increase the risk of glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, and retinal bleeding. Good vision requires proper blood circulation and healthy blood pressure. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, hardening of the arteries, and other forms of heart disease are significant threats to the eyes.
