Can Elderberry Trigger Graves’ Disease and Hashimoto’s?
Many people take elderberry supplements for immune support, especially in the winter. It’s used traditionally throughout Europe, and it’s common in health food stores and even grocery stores within the United States.
While we most commonly see it used this way, different parts of the elderberry plant have been used to treat various ailments, from wounds and insect bites to sore throats, toothaches, and more.
Today, I’m talking about what research shows about elderberry and autoimmunity and what practitioners, including myself, have experienced in practice.
In this episode, you’ll learn about:
- Health benefits of elderberry
- Concerns about elderberry exacerbating autoimmune conditions
- What research shows about whether elderberry increases inflammatory cytokines
- What I’ve seen with elderberry and autoimmunity in my practice
As always, I hope you find this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode!
