Many, many of my couples clients end up in my office after spending years with other couples therapists who told them, "When you get emotionally closer, the sex will follow." When this doesn't work, they come to me, as I work on sex and emotional closeness in parallel in therapy. However, these therapists are not completely wrong, because their theory is true for a subset of women, called preoccupied attachment women.
