In this interview Shelley speaks with Islam Hassan, Head of Growth at Westpac, about his views on being an adaptable leader. He shares that leadership is a constant learning journey and now, more than ever, we must invest in our continual growth and development to ensure future success.

You’ll hear how he has adapted his skills and his approach throughout his career moving from hospitality to telecommunications and banking. He is a learning machine and says “I’ve learnt more from the people who’ve worked with me that what I’ve taught”.

Islam shares that development is not linear and how sometimes taking a side step or a backstop can be more beneficial the just moving forward. He adds that often what gives you the most growth are the things you haven’t yet mastered and being uncomfortable is ok.
