Montel is a decorated former naval officer who earned a degree from the Defense Language Institute in Russian and Mandarin. While serving in the military, he received two Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals, and various other military awards and citations. He's an entrepreneur and an Emmy Award-winning host of the nationally syndicated Montel Williams Show for 17 years. Today he is an inspirational speaker and a prolific author of many books, 4 of which became bestsellers.
