In this episode of the CCU podcast, I sit down with the lead coach at Mountain Dog Diet, Cris Edmonds. Cris’s passion for bodybuilding and sports performance began in the later years of high school. After graduating with his undergraduate degree from Roanoke College, Cris had the opportunity to work with clients one-on-one in a corporate gym setting for 8 years as a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer. In that time, he worked with collegiate and professional athletes, competitors in the physique realm (bodybuilders, physique, figure, bikini), powerlifters, and anyone trying to make changes to their body composition.
Now, Cris is the lead coach at Mountain Dog Diet with a passion for building mental toughness, building massive amounts of muscle, getting peeled, and overall making people better.
In this episode we discuss:
-Training philosophy and application to life
-Learning how to endure
-Reps in reserve vs. Intensity vs. volume
-Teaching clients about how to train with true intensity
-Autoregulation from the inside-out
-How the meaning of training changes over time
-Training is not therapy
-The transition from assistant coach to head coach
-Creating your own legacy in the industry
-Showing up as your authentic self and living it every day
And more!
