Ilene Smith is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with the Somatic Experiencing Institute founded by Peter Levine. She is also a Certified Professional Coach through the GROW Training Institute, and holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and in Exercise Physiology. Ilene’s work is rooted in the principles of Somatic Experiencing and attachment theory. Her training in trauma healing provides the foundation to help clients resolve trauma symptoms and relieve chronic stress and pain in the body. Integrating several modalities into her practice including talking, touch work, and movement, Ilene helps support body tissue memory and the nervous system to create synergy between body and mind. She is the author of Moving Beyond Trauma: The Roadmap to Healing from Your Past and Living with Ease and Vitality.
