Speakers gathered to explore the inseparable link between food and water at a recent Summit. A panel of youth leaders discussed the importance of water security for food systems. Indigenous studies and Squeadmic water governance were explored, highlighting the significance of land laws. The issue of water insecurity in British Columbia and the lack of compensation in Indigenous communities was discussed. The role of salmon as ambassadors for the environment and the global struggle to protect land and water systems were emphasized. Community projects in Winnipeg to reduce food insecurity and the importance of sustainable food and water were also discussed.
