This week’s episode is information packed as well as being a real treat to listen too - Mitch Gray is my special guest. He is the author of “How to Hire and Keep Great People”, where he teaches leaders how to hire talented and really terrific people. He is also a sought-after speaker, a leadership and personal development guide, a writer, and the host of “The Mitch Gray Show” podcast at Mitch Gray Media.
In the episode, some key points Mitch talked about included:
· The recruiting world is filled with a lot of “noise” – how can you stand out.
· If you can, physically visit places you are interested in working at, you are remembered better, and it is harder for them to reject you in person.
· When you lose a job, you need to 1. Take inventory of what you liked and did not like at job 2. Shift your mindset from loss to opportunity 3. Make sure you have a good support group around you during the transition.
· Use hobbies, meditation, and friends/family to help you deal with the stress of being unemployed.
· Remember as you go through your transition to 1. Function from a place of patient diligence – finding that opportunity takes time 2. Do all you can to shift to a positive mind set 3. Know (and believe) that it is going to be OK for you.
Mitch has so many great experiences and knowledge about being in transition and finding that opportunity that aligns with your own personal needs/interests. You will get several great ideas on how to make your job change easier and less stressful. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did, please leave me your comments. And as always, I hope you share this with other who maybe going through their own job change challenges. Thank you!
