Alex Carnall is an instructor in the School of Health Studies at the University of Memphis where he teaches several courses in the field of exercise science, in addition to supervising undergraduate interns and contributing to the efforts of the Human Performance Center. Prior to shifting his career focus to sports science and biomechanics, Carnall was the Assistant Director of strength & conditioning at Campbell University, as well as previously a volunteer at the University of Montana and Campbell University, a student assistant coach at Texas-Pan American and coach at Sport Specific Training Canada in Oakville, Ontario.
Carnall is a former college baseball outfielder playing two years at Cisco College before transferring to finish his final two seasons at the University of Texas-Pan American. Nowadays he is an Olympic weightlifter, who has competed and medaled at the local, state and national level in the former 85kg weight class.
