On a scale of 1 to 5, how easy was it for you to fall in love?
Now don't jump to the answer too quickly. Give it some thought as to what that question is asking.
Love.
What does love mean to you?
When you committed to marriage, young and carefree, out of college and established, divorced and recommitted, all will depend on the ease of love.
Most gravitate towards the "feeling" of love, not the work it requires to stay in love.
So really, it was easy to fall in love at the beginning. Everything was roses and rainbows with a few sprinkles of showers. But for the most part, love seemed reasonable and doable.
And then life happened.
This is where the greater risk began. You had to decide what "love" really meant to you and to who you wanted to love.
For some, the answer is easy. Risking it all is the only way. However, there are many who would choose differently. And in a relationship, you have a 50-50 chance as to which spouse you will be.
So what happens when you are at the crossroads to love or to love not?
You have to be willing to accept the greater risk.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Accept the greater risk!Now when you accept the greater risk, that means you have to be willing to get your hands messy and your heart softened.
Because risk takes work. Today, you get to love the one you married when you accept the greater risk.
- GIVE - This is where you get to know your spouse more than you knew him/her before you got married. the key is to understand what he/she needs FROM you. Then you get to give it away.
- RECEIVE - It's much easier to give than receive. But if you want to be all in for your marriage, you have to learn how to receive. And it's not just the fun gifts that you ask for. Receiving comes in all shapes and sizes.
- SEEK - You always want to be learning about your spouse. You are growing and changing, and so is your spouse. So you must be willing to seek out what you don't know. This lets you grow deeper with the one you love.
