According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, there are more than 3.8 million nurses in the U.S. and rising. Roughly three quarters are registered nurses (RNs), and the remaining quarter are licensed practical nurses (LPNs). Additionally, there are over 100,000 nurse practitioners.
