We were watching the Olympics last night, and my daughter says, "How can I compete with that?".
Women's diving was on, and there was an incredible diver from China, Quan Hongchan, who scored 2 perfect scores in her last two historic dives at the age of fourteen to give her a gold medal.
My daughter went on to say that most of these athletes are younger than they are. "And what are we doing?" she exclaimed.
You hear in her words how she has fallen short in comparison.
Now you and I both know that no one is created equal in abilities and everyone has their own gifts and talents. But that's easy for us to say, but next to impossible for our children to live by.
So let's get real. If your child is claiming failure through comparison, what can you do to help them beyond their own limitations?
Think. See. Do.

What you think about, you will visualize. You SEE! It's important to help shape your thoughts so what you see is what you're after. It's all about your vision!
DO
Where is your child willing and ready to take A.I.M.? What can your child do? What can you encourage him/her to take action which therefore increases the motivation to keep going.
Plus, if you are taking your own action, you are not focusing on someone else's action.
Competition should sharpen our skills, talents, and gifts.
Iron sharpens iron. (Proverbs 27:17)
