129. Fast Friday: The Apache Tale of the Boy and the Rattlesnake and the Power of Discernment
The Boy and the Rattlesnake is an Apache tale that reminds us to exercise some caution with the things we invite closer to us.
Welcome back to Fast Friday, a special bonus episode for just you and I! Fast Fridays are for ideas, stories, tips and reflections that have benefitted my life in some way that I want to share with YOU!
You might know I'm a lifelong student of Native American culture, the esoteric mystery schools and all the wisdom of the past that I believe should be re-incorporated back into our fancy modern lives. I, for one, am much happier when I take the time to be outside, connecting to the bare earth with my feet, making music and expressing myself through art. This show is all about awakening the authentic self and inspiring you to live a healthy, happy life.
Sometimes, even in the most ideal of life paths, you will pass by a figurative rattlesnake that asks to be picked up. What will you do?
This tale is from a collection of traditional Native American stories called Keepers of the Animals. Cultural myths transcend the human experience, time, place and culture, and nearly identical story lines often originate independently across the globe. This is because mythology taps into the collective unconscious: the traits and archetypes that we human all share. Myths are powerful teaching tools for self-knowledge and understanding.
