From the Ground Up Athletic Performance Podcast Episode 2 Chris Romano "Athletic development and all things clean"
On episode 2 I had the pleasure of sitting down with Chris Romano, a former competitive Olympic weightlifter and veteran strength and conditioning coach. Chris is currently the head strength and conditioning coach and sports scientist at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. We begin by discussing how to effectively develop athletes in a sensible manner and focus on how to utilize differing methods to keep athletes healthy. We examine how to effectively progress programming throughout a year for a variety of sports. We discuss many of the common flaws often observed in adolescent populations when examining their cleans. We discuss the use of various complexes to address issues seen in the clean and how they can contribute to more effective movement and keep athletes healthy. We also discuss the varying methods employed with different athletic populations based around the clean. This is an episode full of great knowledge on the clean as well as overall athletic development. Coach Chris has a book out right now available on amazon that addresses many of the things we discuss on the episode titled The book on cleans and their role in sports performance. If you want even more knowledge on how to effectively implement and progress athletic populations through the clean this book is a no brainer.
